Ive never driven a car with Brembo's as yet. I purchased a STI 3 weeks ago and had it taken straight to the garage for engine work.

I bought some Brembo's (Discs, calipers, braided hoses, and two sets of pads) that were full recon'd by Godspeed earlier this year that I had intensions of fitting to my UK300, but I decided to sell the car prior to fitting. So I still havent had a scoob with better stopping potential that the standard Subaru 4 pots.
If you have never driven a car with anything other than Subaru 4 pots you will be in for a nice suprise. Something like Alcon 4 pots, 4 pot Brembos or 4 pot AP's will stand up to pretty much anything you throw at them.

On topic 400bhp is well worth it. As for cost it depends how brave you are these cars are not designed to have 400bhp put through them so expect things to break at some point. You may be lucky and nothing breaks or you may be unlucky and break the engine, box diffs depending on your driving style. I personally just bought a car with a built forged engine and all the correct parts for 400 already fitted

I was speaking to John at the SSO i think (Black JDM Blobeye??). He was getting some good times on the sprint. He was saying that he was running a standard car pretty much. 330bhp / 400lb or there abouts if memory serves me correct.

So the list above can be done on the budget of 2k then Thats get you thinking a little lol. I think I will start purchasing products slowly away.

All 2nd hand and some new parts Ive just searched on here:
Harvey Ported Headers with up pipe £350
650 injectors £150
Walbro £72
TD05 18G £300
3 Port £60
Full Stainless £350ish
Re-map £300 ish
Total £1500 ish

Labour^^ £100 - £150 for a mate who is a mechanic

I believe that the standard internals of the newage STI are ok at the 400 level, and that the tranny etc are very good at this level, even read and heard that if you dont aggresively launch the car you can run safe at 600/500lb . I've read quite a bit about PPG's breaking where as the 6 speeds are surviving. Just found this if you havent already read it: https://www.scoobynet.com/drivetrain...ox-or-ppg.html

Ive driven some oher cars with high performance brakes (well better spec than standard setups), but never Brembos.

Six speed is tough, but the ratios aren't ideal for full on competition.

My clutch gave up at 360 ft.lb's...

And she's been running just under 400 bhp for quite a while now. After running at 340 bhp for a couple of years.

For sprint use with 17" wheels, a 330mm six pot AP kit is superb, I love the initial bite of these, the PF & Brembo set-up never faded, but didn't have that initial "bite"...

All IMHO.

Thanks guys. Ive had a few pms offering advise too which is always good. The next job once the car is back on the road is to set my sights on the power i want to achive and go for it. I'll purchase all the goods i need in spits'n'spats and get them installed in one swoop prior to mapping.

Yep, that was me. Car is stock MY05 JDM STi (widetrack blobeye) bar a remap from Tractive Solutions (Richard Bulmer), aftermarket panel filter, walbro fuel pump (not really needed on the MY05) and miltek exhaust. Standard suspension and brakes, EBC Blue pads and some aftermarket but still standard style one piece brake disks (just better quality material). Full fat 1450kg + driver + fuel so probably 1570kg all up. Car has aprox 365BHP/390Lbft, but less on the handling course as i only saw 1.3BAR peak, shows 1.7BAR peak on the road.

Went pretty well, won the standard class by 3.28 Seconds and was 2nd overall, just 0.3 Seconds off winning the event outright.

Nice one John , It was a good day bar the weather which put a bit of a 'dampner' on things. I'm hoping to compete in the next one come May 2011.

Odd how you were only running 1.3 PEAK . If it was glorious sunshine that might have been understandable.

120kp of extra weight (you and fuel) Well unless my car will run on fresh Air I will need to diet for next May .

Congratulations once again John on your placement. Now bugger off back to 22B

It never really got loaded up fully, spinning the wheels in 1st/2nd and was above peak torque rpm in 3rd. I'm sure i could chase some more performance in that environment with some map tweeking, but it's great on the road which is what i'm more interested in. Grippier tyres would have seen the boost running higher.

Out of Interest, what tyres did you opt for, having glanced at your car briefly I noticed you had some kind of track tyre (Toyo maybe?)

Quite a lot of snet members were running around a week prior to the event trying to get track tyres, but I bet very few 'non-proffesional' competitors were actually running on 'wets'

Well after doing a little more research since im currently laid up after my recent knee operation. I have jigged my original list:

650 injectors £150
Walbro £72
MD Turbo £800
3 Port £60
3" Full Stainless £350ish
Mapping £300 ish

Minus part to sell: VF35, 550 Injectors, Standard Headers = £450ish

The car was on the bog standard Bridgestone RE070's that are fitted at the factory. Had it been on proper wets as Gavin was using on the banana it would have won the event outright quite easily.
