i had an 03 sti for 4 years running 380bhp ,sold it and brought an 04 wrx from a 58 year old with 6025 miles on the clock and never looked back, cheaper day to day ie insurance/tax/no tracker needed.

i personally prefer the wrx 5 speed box gearing the 6 speed is a pain plus most need new syncros now which cost £££ any crunching between 4 and 5th walk away or add 1k to budget.

my advice is go find a mint wrx and spend 1500 on it and you be happy

plus most sti now are clocking the miles up there is plenty of wrx with 20k on the clock

I would recommend you find a good Subaru specialist to have a look at the car. When you go to a Subaru garage its not always guaranteed that they will know what to look for when the car has been modified.
When i bought mine i took a mechanic who only does Subaru's and he saved me more money than he cost. He was also very good for advise on what i wanted to do with the car going forward and gave me some more knowledge on them.

If you are lucky you might find a good blob sti in your budget but you will easily find a good blob wrx, A mint low mileage wrx with ppp would be a better buy than an sti that has high mileage and in the real world is not much slower, but if you think you will want to mod it further taking into account what you will spend then an sti is a better buy.

Looks very good and you made the right decision, going for the Sti in my opinion. Ive got a Blob sti but had a uk classic before and the Sti is a much nicer car and it does go well if needed. Hope you enjoy.

You will soon get use to the power (I did) and want more but I do find it hard getting a chance to use it unless you go on a track.
