We bought a 3000 lwb shogun for about £2k, used it as a tow car for Time attack, and as a daily runner, drove perfectly with only minor issues (consumables), just had a bit of a drink problem, especially when towing

Pajero
I had one, 2.8 diesel lwb exceed. Bullet proof go anywhere 4x4.
I bought mine from the import actions at Donnington and in 3 years the only thing I had to replace was the batteries when I first got it. I used to do quite a bit of greenlaning and they are very capable as well as being quite comfortably kitted out. Nice to drive on road and would cruise at 90 all day long. The auto box 'super select' can be flicked between 2 and 4 wheel drive whilst moving and is one of the best auto boxes available.

What sort of mpg did you get out of it? I've always loved the look of the SWB version since I sat in one in a showroom as a kid in '91.

Really want this

TBH I really don't have a clue. If you are serious about getting one join POCUK the Pajero forum and ask a few questions on there.
Even though mine was the 2.8 LWB diesel you would be shocked at how fast they are in a drag from the lights and at the other end of the scale the places they can get off road. The auto box is fantastic.
Have a butchers on YouTube at Pajero green laneing Derbyshire etc. Here's one we used to do.

I,m on my second Jeep , the first was a Cherokee , this ones a grand Cherokee..... both have proved to be reliable with no faults during several years of ownership.....and from what I can see easily available for 2 grand anywhere

Unlike the Range Rover that preceded them

If a Jimny is too small then a Terios will also be too dinky.

Yeah, Terios too small too.

Currently looking at all sorts of things including Hyundai's, Grand Vitara's etc - the budget went up to 4k when she realised there was fek all available under 15 yr old

Is there a reason why Fronteras haven't been mentioned.

I'm ashamed to say we all missed this one considering this is a Subaru site(unless it was missed for a reason? ) but it now looks like she might get a Legacy Outback. How are they on reliability/parts etc, non-turbo so I'm assuming ok?

/edit just found uklegacy.com - off for a snoop

From personal experience Yes, they really are that bad.

I test drove a new one years ago, had it booked for the day, but took it back after 15 minutes. Awful.
