if this is removed how does the undertray fit. Or is there a different one to fit the spec with it missing. Looks interesting as if it aint on a spec c then not really that dangerous to remove.

Any more thoughts on this?

I have a 2005 which I want to take this off of as further weight reduction.

But I have a 2003 Spec C in for repair and contrary to the above it has one fitted as standard!

Haven't had mine on for a while. I managed to fit the undertray back on without it too. Steering feels much better without it, and I much prefer how it feels now.

Very easy to take off and put back on so worth a try if you want to try it.

How does the ALK work then as you need to put spacers between the frame?

the spacers are to drop the frame down when you fit the ALK, the spacers have no effect on the geometry setting.

I suspect the spacers are for the frame to clear the ALK as it sits under the frame. I'll find out when my bits arrive and I look at the fitting of one without the frame as mine has been removed and I no longer have one. It's the same issue if you use some of the aftermarket subframe kits.

I thought there was a difference in bush size between classics and newage

Safety is relative Cars aren't safe fullstop, but they are less safe in a head on collision without the subframe That said no two accidents are the same and if you read the thread half of scoobynet drive classics, to which they were never fitted. I remove them personally as it's not 'unsafe' IMHO just less precautionary than before. Drives loads better with it removed, so you could argue that it's safer without if you have more confidence than before...but I won't argue that

It's as safe as choosing to do a trackday in my classic rather than my newage as was

I was under my wrx the other day and noticed a rather nasty hole rusted on the passenger side towards the end of the leg on this chassis frame. Driverside is like new so looks like puddles etc on the edge of the road has eventually rotted its way through. Surely you cannot drive without this as there are so many parts bolted to it??

Such as ? only the undertray

This is mine with lightweight bracing in place of the OEM frame, nothing bolts on or has fallen off

Hmm, I thought it was similar to a subframe that secured the arms etc. So it is not structural then and I can replace it with tubular performance bits?

I wonder how many posts you can get that picture into 53

On a more serious note, did you install any of that individually to be able to comment on each parts effectiveness, or get it done all in 1 go? I would be interested if the former.

Yes mate, a couple will need to go back in the ALK. If you have the engine guard you won't be able to fit it back on

IIRC there is no touching of the ALK fella, If you have fitted the ALK you will have some little spacers spare though.
