Spec C' worth the extra?

before Reading this thread I though to myself I will never buy a newage due to the weight 1460kg
but when you think about it a newage running close to 500 will give a lot of things on the road or strip a run for there money and with some weight saving you can well have a serious car.
it really isn't that bad once you look past the weight issue you get a solid 6 speed avcs head and a car that will handle better out of a box than a classic.
if I had to part with that much cash I would rather get the spec due to it not been so popular. I see atleast one newAge sti every day, spec c I'm lucky to see one every few months

That was MY main reason for getting the Spec C back in 2005. It was rare and still current and in my eyes for what I wanted, was the best. I'm extremely implusive at times and that purchase was shear impulse.... it had to be as I had only owned my Blobeye UK STI for 4 whole weeks at that point, prior to handing the cash over to Litchfield Imports for the Spec C. 
Never regretted a single moment of that purchase in reality.

Yup still have it sitting in the garage had a bit of intrest off a few parties but nothing concrete.Work/holidays/work have been taking up all my time recently so i will be at the grudgement day at elvington later in the year to shake the cobwebs out of it and me if it hasnt gone by then.

but i'd quite happily kick your cars bottom should you come do a scoobysprint round or similar some time. 
Shaun appears to have covered the subject of spec C or not rather well and quite elequently, the lighter Spec C IMO is better for all of the reasons listed, I am guessing if you are entering timed events you have made changes to your car and the Spec C would probably have been a better starting point for you.My point about the brakes you appear to agree with, however you have the knowledge to know what parts to upgrade to to make it work? I tried M1155 pads and racing brake fluid and still thought they werent up to the job. lets not forget Subaru changed the brakes on the RA-R to 6 pot Brembos.
Kick my cars bottom? look forward to it fella, I have had my ACU licence since 2001, ok I have not been to scooby sprint but I have been entering competitive races on 2 wheels. Now my car is up to the job I plan on entering Scooby sprint, if you do kick my **** (not car) I promise to buy you a brew and a bacon butty
I have signed up for my first "car" trackday at Oulton on the 7th September, it would be nice to see another Scooby owner there Lee.

ps I completely regret selling mine 
If I had'nt blown £3k already on the TypeR, I probably would have sold it asap for a JDM Hawkeye Sti. I might as well keep the Type R for approx 18 months now & by then hopefully yen/sterling exchange rates may have improved so I can get a minter shipped over.

Lee,
Four wheels are far safer than two. I get the odd hankering now for a bike again, but would struggle to store it, so my bikeless life of 14yrs will have to continue. Bikes are do great though on a sunny day. My memories of my 900cc Suzuki are fond!

Anyway, i envy the import/export laws of vehicles that you guys have. Correct me if i'm wrong, there are basically no limit as to how old a car can be imported as long as it passes MOT?Over here in my country, we can't import anything over 3 years old from the first date of registration. So we can't get any JDM GD Imprezas anymore.

How do you find the power delivery, stability and overall experience between the two?
The classics have felt rawer / more fun to me and I have tried a 05 uk sti and owned a 05 mk1 t25 just felt they needed a little more power to feel the same as my old p1 and a shed load more to feel like bob rawle sti 5 that I owned

The car is boggo standard bar a remap, panel filter and exhaust, circa 360BHP, 390Lbft.All i've done re brakes is put some decent pads and disks on, the stock OEM setup was apauling, virtually no brakes after one stop, but the new kit is mega for my needs.
Hopefully i'll get to take the car out to the 'ring later in the year and see how they work out there, it's a while since i drove there but i must have done 300 laps in my STi5 RA, so will make for a good comparison.Good to see you've took my banter in the spirit intended.
I've been driving scoobs of various specs on track for a decade on and off, so know what's needed to make them work. I'll be driving a TA Hawkeye Spec C Type RA this weekend at Cadwell all being well.
