Not quite in the same league but way back when my parents got a call from the police about a year after trading in a 1275GT Mini for a Talbot Solara (). The Mini had been found crashed in a drainage canal in the fenlands by some joy-riders. Quite obviously there was nothing that my parents could do to help with the police investigation, so I don't know why they contacted us.
Coincidently the 355 has been resurrected, guy bought it for 20k at auction and thinks it will cost him about 5-6k to put it right. The insurance fix for body work alone was 30k+ according to the insurance company, hence the right off. The difference between sourcing 2nd hand parts and main dealer prices

Just got a fine in for not telling the DVLA that the car had been disposed of, still the insurance company are taking the hit as they should have done this. So £35 saved weeeheeee

Ie, mate of mine had a 340bhp nova taxed as a 1 litre, he just got away with it before the police found the car!
Ah, good point, it is still a 1.8 on the log book, but it is insured as a 2.8 VR6. Still how the cops going to know this? (unless they have heard it pulling through the gears )

Car is registered as a 1.8, and on a h plate, so I am paying the same road tax for a 1.8 as i would for a 2.8 as the car is registered before 2001.

Jeez, nice to see that Plod is using his time productively surfing Youtube at the tax payers' expense, rather than keeping the streets safe.

More proof that the new Govt is right to cut their funding.

It could well be a case of someone has cloned your motor and as been up to naughty stuff and they just want to know where you were at the time.

Just remember not to bend over to pick up the soap once you're doing time

The other thing to note is that if he is meeting you somewhere, it's unlikely he's going to be nicking you.

We prefer to ask the person to meet us at reception of the police station so we can walk them straight down to custody. That way, when they leave, they have their car with them and don't need dropping off, thus avoiding the neighbours watching you leave and arrive home again later in a panda.

If you think it is car related, feel free to have all your docs ready. If it's a contemporaneous note interview, you are entitled to ask for legal advice - at your own cost - but you are are also allowed to ask the officer to leave at anytime. If he says he wants to interview you but you do want a free of charge solicitor, then tell him to nick you and take you in to custody.

Hmm,weird

i`d say the copper hasnt got alot to do and is being very picky/jobsworth

i have had a small clash of car mirrors a few yrs ago,we both agreed it was our fault, well,i was on my own,the lady had 2 lads with her,so it was more of a your fin fault, nah, urs u pr1cik and so on then we both left

few days later i had a letter for leaving the scene etc, i phoned the no.,explained, end of

so,if it is for a road incident,a letter usually comes ur way,not a visit (unless he`s pedantic etc)

if it were speeding, alleged, again,a letter would be enough (since the officers are far too busy, arent they)

good luck

Arrange for a solicitor to go with you. There are things he will know that you may not in terms of you being a volunteer and the associated rights etc. and it won't cost you a penny.

Be safe and have someone on your side to make sure the fuzz don't take any liberties with your..erm..liberty.

Yup, if you have not had any other "issues" and you already know you have been pinged for speeding then its probably going to be a verbal NIP.

We could all be getting ahead of ourselves here, I think the Coppa saw you and quite fancied getting to know you better .... he would like to handcuff you and take you up the rear passage, to the cells ....

I recently (6months ago) bought a Mk2 Golf with VR6 conversion, just paid cash and didn't HPI

I have thought that I may have bought a stolen car and that it it about to get taken off me, but I would have thought this would have qualified as and 'urgent' matter?

Any ideas what this non-urgent matter could be?

It shouldn't be anything car driving related as you'd have received RTA notice through the post, asking you to name the driver at a certain time.

It sounds like they want to talk to you about something you may have witnessed or been involved in.

PM me if you wish, once you know more.

Sounds ripe for a Section 59 to be honest.

They came to my home a few weeks later to give me mine
