Japanense performance car stolen and a few things to note.

I always lock my doors now when driving and never leave keys anywhere near the front door at night. My husband used to nag me about not being careful enough but now...
A lone woman driving in a mercedes near to me recently had her car jacked. You can never be too careful!
Incidentally, I was followed and stopped outside my house by police for the first time ever on Saturday. The didn't give me a producer, breathalyse me or anything. As soon as they saw me get out of the car they were fine. Did they assume it was stolen?
Victoria.

In the paper the other week it said that a man was car jacked by 4 guys for his BMW and they took him with the car and drove around for an hour whilst threatening him with a knife! they then dumped him and took off with the car. Also in Essex/Herts area in the last 10 days there have been 2 car jackings reported where people have been crashed into at junctions and then when they get out chemicals sprayed in their eyes and they were then threatened with a knife for the keys. the two guys then drove off in their original car and the stolen one. It has seriously made me doubt buying an Impreza, it must be losing the car companies money and if the criminals have found a way round trackers then the equipment has to be improved.
I don't think longer sentences are the answer because no thief reckons he will get caught the answer is to get the police to catch the thieves so its not worth the risk and to find where the stolen cars go to and close down the markets for them so they are not worth stealing. Mean while if the police can spy on IRA terrosts with out them finding the bug you would think it would be possable to hide a tracking device in the car the systems chosen are obviosly not up to the job. Ultimately the point not to be missed is it is not worth making the car so hard to steal that they take you with the car because then people are going to start getting killed.

Interesting that its putting people off buying scoobs when several makes are being stolen like beemers, and in the case i posted about five grands worth of mazda.
Unfortunately if everyone stops buying desirable cars we'll all be driving round in FSO's.
