I think its more to do with Bernie knowing full well that if F1 was shown in black and white with every other frame removed, the british would still watch it. We'd complain bitterly but we'd still watch it - as we do.

He hides nothing from want to break into the Asian market and Russia where he sees the future money being made. I'm sure thats partly the reason why if it was up to Bernie there would be racing throughout the year and he'd have the drivers dissing each other on TV and have scripted punch ups etc etc - sounds like Wrestling doesn't it - if bernie could he would.

I just don't think he knows when to stop.

In other F1 news it turns out that Ferrari were advised 3 times to allow Kubica to regain his position. Seems the red team aren't coping very well without the FIA

Eddie Irvine in my opinion would have been a far better choice then Eddie Jordan
Jordan is really ******* annoying I find.

And the HD comments.
OK - for sure its being recorded in HD as other countries can watch it in HD, but not the BBC?

So it is a BBC decision not to show it in HD. They want stuffing!

I can't confirm for sure that its shown on the dedicated sports channel in Australia in HD but I don't think it is. Thats the only place that was rumoured to show F1 in HD and that was before the season started.

Its got nothing to do with the BBC and everything to do with FOM (Bernie). The BBC is perfectly capable of showing F1 in HD which means the only reason why it isn't is FOM.

I don't know that for sure Les.
I know people outside the UK that are able to watch F1 in HD.
Now - whether thats upscaled HD or true HD I've no idea and my friends don't know either.
In our case - take Eurosport HD as an example.
You know(Or are lead to believe if its true HD because of the "Native HD" message on the screen

Where is F1 broadcast in HD?

Most tracks have cameras capable of HD footage hence Euro HD and the European Touring Cars being shown in HD and why F1 is filmed in HD. AFAIK its not shown in HD anywhere because if it was there would be uproar that it was shown in other countries in HD but not on the BBC.

NASCAR and Indy is film and shown in HD.

According to Ecclestone then, its down to the broadcasting companies. Is it all a tissue of lies I wonder?

from what i gather the issue is the money to set the system up, and bernie being bernie is saying bollox to you all, if you want it you pay for it. and basicly the broadcasters won't so the situation is stuck.

Back to the original point of the thread. I finally managed to catch the bits after the podium and drivers interview yesterday. Was very watchable and low key interviewing most of the drivers in the pits with a small crowd behind. What cracked me up was Lewis playing Oasis on the guitar and everyone joining in inc Chris Moyles.

You get the feeling that they [BBC crew] are all just part of the F1 family and are respected by all teams & drivers.

According to the BBC F1 producer, the feed is provided by F1, and that feed is not HD.

I fail to see how this is a BBC probkem.

Coverage is great and no stupid advert breaks to ruin the programme.

I do enjoy the DC & EJ conversations - especially when DC had to explain to EJ that he had not a clue about driving an F1 car at 200mph

yes please lets have HD and I need more of Lee Mckenzie ............. lots more.
