Few pics of my 01 bug

Had a few spare hours today so decided to see what was hiding under the sideskirts, wasn't to bad apart from on the jacking points where the metal was a bit bent and starting to rust.
Went about bending it back into position and grinding back the rust, coating with rust preventer and a final coat of stone chip to try prolong the life of them.
Biggest surprise was the amount of mud removed from the bottom of the front arch panel, car is rarely used and hasn't been out on a wet day for atleast 2 years.
As per usual some parts were not playing ball and decided to fall apart, these being the clips that are used to screw the mud flaps in place. Both fell apart and have left me with a very insecure mud flap and 2 bolts stuck in bottom of the arch panel. Are theses a part that comes with flaps or can they be purchased through subaru?
The nut has snapped off the back and is still attached to the bolt in the bottom arch.

Those same clips failed on me when I took a set of huge flaps off my car, the bit on the back is actually a plastic rectangle with a plastic nut shape in the middle and in my case the 'nut' bit sheered away from the rest of the plastic meaning the bolt just span.
I ended up hack-sawing the bolt heads off and pulling them out from the other side, so I can tell you it *is* possible to get your fingers up behind the holes if you lay on you back and reach up and under the arch. I replaced mine with some short SS bolts, but its very fiddly.
I also removed great clarts of mud from behind the mudflaps which made me glad they were coming off really.

Took the plunge and bought a new set of wheels and tyres for the Bug.
Inovit tarmacs with yokohama advan tyres, have the same look as the P1 WRC alloys i had on previous, but are ET42 and the prodrive wheels were ET53 and fill the arches more.
Not the best pic.
Now need to get the STi shocks and Prodrive springs on, plus ALK and uprated bushes all round. Then get a geo setup to get it handling a bit better.

Been thinking about new wheels for months, wasn't happy with how inward the OZ prodrives were.
Then stumbled across these which have the same number of spokes and same look, arch filling is a vast improvement on what it was and personally my favourite car and wheel colour conmbination.
Got some flush fitting valves on them, which on my first time of going to get the pressures checked i found out how much of a pain they are. Trying to get the valve extension into the valve then not being able to get it off due to it's smooth finish.
But sometimes looks is better then practicality, just need to find some stickers for the centre caps and change the colour of the caps to gunmetal as they are silver and stick out like a sore thumb.
