Tony Hayward (BP) Testifying Before Congress
#31
I was very unimpressed with that committee which unlike it should be was totally biased against BP and him in particular before they even started.
The committee if it is prepared to be fair should ask him all the questions they need the answers for in an unbiased manner and when they have finished then they are entitled to make up their minds according to the evidence.
To attack him the way they did instead of taking any notice of his replies make that committee invalid as far as I am concerned! They had made up their minds before the business had even started!
I notice that Transocean and Halliburton's part in the affair was deftly ignored.

What's even more idiotic is the fact they asked the heads of other oil companies questions the other day and are actually taking them into account in this investigation. After one company has had a terrible disaster happen, would someone really expect the boss of another oil company not to argue that they do things differently and that this wouldn't happen to them? Come on to f*ck!

Ameican congress and the platform owners negating any responsibility - it is the American way and why they are turning rapidly into a nation who lack any responsibility for thier actions and it is always someone eslses fault.
Americans desperate for oil byproducts and oil revenue grant the likes of BP licences to extract oil to feed thier vast appetitie for fuel.
The rig owner saying that BP are lax in their safety - well the rig belongs to its sowners who should enforce the safety levels are maintaind to the strict standards surely instead of blindly taking the money.
Whilst BP are hardly innicoent in this matter the American Gov't and the rig owners should also take some responsibility - yet another reactive knee jerk reaction from congress who in some cases owe thier fortunes to oil and oil companies and taking risks...who knows

Alot seems to be made from your fella Hayward having a weekend off and going out on a boat! I'm sorry but come off it, he's a man like the rest of us ffs. Like everyone else he isn't a robot and like any other human being, its none of our business what he is doing whilst he's not at work.
I'm sure its fine for congress to go to the golf course whilst their soldiers are out in afghanistan getting blown up.

Any reason to try to create a furore and sell papers of course Jamz. There is no doubt that BP have got a lot of awkward questions to answer but ridiculous to "hang" the bloke for taking a day off with his familiy!

"... This is rich… Rhambo Deadfish mocks Tony Hayward’s tone deafness — at the same time the White House is announcing that Obama is hitting the links (for the 9th time during this crisis) at Andrews Air Force Base. ..."
Must be hard work being leader of the free world .....
