Fault code, Knock sensor
Yeah. If you overtighten it the usual consequence is cracking the plastic body (or stressing it so much it cracks shortly after), which can lead to an early demise for the new sensor. I usually machine the bolt head back a little bit so it can only bear against the metal centre core and can't touch the plastic at all - eliminates the crack risk even if tightened down a bit overzealously.

I live in East london buddy. Yes i'm a BMW technician by trade, i work in north London. So if you want, i'll do it for you. For free. We need to look after each other in this fragile economic time. If you want to sort me a "drink" thats up to you my good sir.
That would be amazing, I have rung a garage to order that part and do the work but i can cancel it.
When would you be available as I love in north London.
Do you know if there is a cheap site I can order the part?

Ha! As it was an important sensor, i ordered mine from subaru (they proper pulled my pants down mate £103)
When you get the part, drop me a pm buddy.
http://www.importcarparts.co.uk/ sell genuine sensors at a fair bit less than the above KBM, so sounds like you're sorted!
