I like it, but if im being honest I wish it looked a little more agressive and stood out a bit more from the "normal" sti hatch.
A Cosworth is and always will be a COSWORTH

i think the focus RS500 sold out even before the official launch. so you will be very lucky to get one. yes these high performance limited edition cars carry a premium, i would love one myself.

Subaru, didn't listen to us Brits about the 2006 lights, 2007, 2008, 2009 and guess what crap they put on the 2010

But Subaru are totally uninterested in the UK market, they are only worried about what Uncle Sam thinks

IMHO IIRC

RS500 350bhp was priced at £35 if I remember rightly against the standard RS Focus with interior pack at £27K. Subaru Cosworth £50K against sti at £27K. Where has all the extra money been spent over the top of an STI? It's defenately not in the interior looking at the pictures I've seen. Boost gauge, oil temp gauge, oil pressure gauge would have been nice, parking sensors etc. they are charging for a £50k car but your not getting the gadgets or quality of interior in my opinion.

Given a donor car, how much would it cost to bring it to the same level as the CS400 ?
CS Short block : 4k, injectors: 0.5k (presume these need uprating from std STI ?), turbo 1.5k, suspension 2k, wheels 1.5k, full exhaust 1k, labour/map 2k.
So 10k left for the badge, dull paint (saves on waxing ?) and different seats. Is it that hard to justify the premium, considering other marques hide it in the total price ? I'm sure there's just as much profit in an M3, considering the jump between the list price on a 330 and M3 ?

Everyone as there own opinion but im sick of hearing about this 50k price tag.The cars are nearly all sold so there is no need to be concearned about the price you aint getting one.
Like the 22b 12 years ago 45k every one said wide arched type r yeah right try get a uk 22b now even if you have the money trust me i know.
This car in 12 years will still be worth 40k and no other run of the mill subaru will be, Buy ya spec c or rb320 ect ect and go loose 40% in first 36 months.
I know what i would be doing if i had the money.
Just my opinionxx

the 22B is a road version of the iconic WRC winning rally car so that heritage is worth its weight in gold, along with the looks that no other Impreza has had since.
the hatch has no heritage with WRC (well maybe group N) and the cosworth looks not different to a standard STI.
for something this eagerly anticipated & highly priced I was expecting something with more eye catching appearance, like the Focus RS MK2 or 22B (some vents in the front wings, a WRC styled bootspoiler, vented bonnet for example)
and if they used the JDM mirrors they could probably reduce the 0-60 times by 2 second

As an everyday car it is silly money at £50k and it would be madness to pay that.
However, as a 'toy' to be played with now and again and locked up safe and sound other times, it is a sound investment.
In 10 years time it could even give you every penny back ... free toy that has only cost you the loss of interest on £50k (£800 a year) - could be considered a bargain?

I reckon my mieghbours cosworth escort will be worth more in twenty years time
..dont really get why you would need a outside *tuner* to improve on the only thing thats realtively unique to the marque , ( the engine )

I think the problem is you've got to buy an STI then pay for it to be pulled apart and converted to a cosworth from what I can see from the pictures. If Subaru had actually built the car from scratch in the factory as a Cosworth then maybe it would have worked out cheaper and with a better interior spec. I am just guessing that this is not a Subaru factory production run.
Just thinking how good this collaboration could have looked if they had done it a while back and taken a hawkeye sti as the base car. Maybe Ra R sort of looks in matt black, wide wheels, big brakes etc.......................hmmmmm!

You're forgetting to include warranty within that 10K
exercise in turd polishing, i am sure the engine and chassis are bloody good but is is an average looking eurobox still.
Ok the classics where not exactly pretty but they had/have presence and an aggressive look about them and look like a rally car spin off should.
