Plus the yacht I am working on is due to leave the yard in approx 6 weeks so I will be living onboard then and wont be able to use a car yet alone need one lol.
Sounds like your in a good position to see this one through. Good luck mate

Well I have just had this letter from QBE

We refer to our previous correspondence concerning this matter.

We can confirm the file of papers relating to the above claim have been passed to our in house engineers for their comments regarding valuation.

In this case a valuation increase has not been agreed as our engineers feel the valuation placed on the vehicle by independent engineers is correct.

Could do with a little help on a strongly worded letter to their senior engineer if anyone has any suggestions?

Whilst we appreciate that this is not the decision you was hoping for we can confirm all information available to us has been considered in the valuation of the above vehicle.

In regards to the progression of the third party claim and your policy excess, I apologise I did not reply to this point in my email to you, the third party claim is being dealt with by DWF solicitors on your behalf, their contacts details are below.
As you can imagine I am not happy about this and they have said I need to write a strong letter to the senior engineer or go down the complaints route.

I have asked for details of both senior engineer and complaints route.
I have also asked that the vehicle not be disposed of, Is there a way I can find out if they have disposed of the vehicle?

thats not good news, as for the vehicle as said before it is still legally yours, do you know where the car went? as i would ring the yard were it went and inform them, that it is still your vehicle and the claim hasn't been agreed and for them not to dispose of it.

Sorry to hear that....

my94WRX is correct in that you still have legal title over the vehicle and it cannot be disposed of by a third party until you transfer legal title when a settlement is reached.

Well 4 months on and I finaly got my settlement.
They agreed the car was worth more than I had it insured for but have to cap the limit at what it was insured for.

Just fighting the 13% deduction now as they claim I didnt declare either of my convitions.
I had declared the sp50 at inception just not the ms90 as I didnt have that at time of inception so see how I get on with that....

Badgersport, when my 1999 classic was stolen and not recovered a few years ago I rejected the insurance company's valuation in the same way as Smurf did and got the right result. They paid me out enough to buy a slightly newer replacement with half the mileage.

They admited it was worth about 5500 i could of pushed for more but as I only had it insured at 5000 they limited the payout to that.

Just arguing the 13% now as I did declare the SP50 so see what they have to say about that lol

When I got a low valuation (total loss, theft), I just told them that if they were that confident, they were more than welcome to go out & replace like for like for me! (Lancia Delta Integrale Evo) ...needless to say, 6 months later they upped their offer by £3K

tbh I reckon they just use the 'trade in' value of their glass's guide
