Hello,mate
I am really interested,in your car(I suppose you are sick of hearing that, then nobody stumps up the money!!)
I have taken a deposit on my Evo,so will shortly be in the position to buy.
I was looking at the Spec C,in Litchfields and your's.
(If anybody knows of any other Spec C's,in the same price range, please let me know!)
What miles has your car done,if you don't mind me asking?
I stay in the Highlands,so we are obviously a fair distance apart.
What is your nearest airport, and how far away is that?
Thanks for your time
Chris

Hello,again
Has the car been undersealed and what is the condition of it,underneath?
What oils have been used, for the engine, box and diffs and what fuel do you use?
Who services it,for you and do you have any proof of servicing?
We have super unleaded(97-98ron),up here, but it is a 50 mile round trip, for Optimax
So,I suppose it would be adviseable for me to run it with octane booster, just to be safe.
I take it there are no "surprises",waiting for a potential buyer. No rattles, from the engine or box.Are the synchros fine in the box,as my Type R,had issues with this.
Probably my own fault,as I was a bit of a hooligan,with it!
I have seen the error of my ways, and drive with mechanical sympathy, these days.
What tyres do you have on it,and what condition are they in?
Apologies, for the "20" questions, but you said it was okay to ask!!
Thanks a lot for your time,
Chris

I have used Mobil S 5w-40 synthetic engine oil, Castrol 75w-90 synthetic gear oil for the gearbox and diffs.
The car has only been run on V Power or Tesco 99 depending what is closer at the time, although 90% on V Power, it is mapped for 99 fuel so you would either have to use octane booster or drive to the nearest outlet, or get it remapped for 97 which would probably mean a loss in power.
There are no rattles or surprises for any buyer, cost has never been an issue for servicing, maintenance or modifications, when all the oils were drained there were no metal fragments or foreign objects in any of the oils.
As for servicing proof I have the original Japanese service book but I cannot make any sense of it, the car had an engine oil change before I picked it up and since it has had a full service. A good friend of mine who builds Subaru engines, gearboxes and diffs carried out the work, he is a fully qualified Mechanical Engineer (he posts up on here and I can let you have his contact details) not a mechanical fitter. I only use high quality oils and genuine oil filters.
The tyres are Michelin Pilot Sports which are in good condition but the rear tyres will need replacing before the front tyres.

The current market might not change for a while and I suppose people that don't know their Subaru's or know what an S202 is might perceive the price you're asking for your rare machine as being too high for an old Subaru.
I imagine owners of 22b's maybe have a similar problem at the moment with prices at almost twice the price you're asking for yours, so you're in good company.
Even if i had a 22b i would mod it to do what i wanted without changing anything cosmetically to keep it looking std at least, and it would still be a 22b in every way. However, keeping them bog std is fine if you're going to stick it in a museum or use it on very rare occasions, treating it more like a collectable, but IMHO they are there to be used in every way and that includes enhancing performance. I think that adds to the attraction and likely it could well be the quickest S202 in the UK.
Good luck with it whatever you decide.

If that is a dig at me,I can see where you are coming from, and I apologise for it.
I really like your car,CallumW's and the Litchfield one.
It is a big decision,that I don't take lightly.
The only thing that is putting me off buying private, again,is the amount of money I have had to shell out,on my last privately bought car and two others, previously,by sellers, with no scruples.
This is why the Litchfield one, appeals to me.
I am not saying that any of the car's mentioned have anything wrong with them,or that you or Callum are "dodgy"!!
At least with a garage,I have some sort of comeback.
So,please bear with me,as I don't want to make the wrong choice.

No I was referring to someone who hasn't posted up on here, full of promises and I thought a deal had been struck but no contact since.
Like I have said I have no problem answering messages / PM's or taking calls on the car and I welcome any interest.

Even if you buy a car from a dealer something may still go wrong if it's going to go wrong and from past experience i've come to the conclusion that small dealers used car warranties aren't really worth the paper they are written on or what you paid for them.
What you have to be aware of is that buying a specialist car from a specialist dealer can have unwanted side effects. You buy the car and a couple of months later it goes pop. Your specialist dealer takes the car in, pulls it apart and says you were thrashing the nuts of it and it's your fault it's blown up, not the car that was the issue. They are the Subaru experts, what can you do about it!! This does happen.
I'm not saying that's what is going to happen and no doubt Litcho's have a hugely decent reputation they can justifiably back up all day long but you will pay over the odds, and these days dealers don't always give warranties with used cars, you have to pay for them and that's extra cost.
When you take into account the extra money paid over and above buying a car from a private seller, the extra you've paid may well be enough to at worse case scenario replace the engine in your P&J.
It's all swings and roundabouts.

Like I said,I can really see your point if you had been referring to me and I didn't take offence,to it!
I have made my mind up,though and will be buying the Litchfield car.
Your car is certainly special,though.
I really hope you find a buyer for it.
If you decide to keep it,I llook forward to seeing how you get on with the modifications.
Hope there are no hard feelings, mate.

I don't buy from the stealers. You pay a few £k over the odds for what? A warranty that doubtless isn't worth the paper it's written on! Better to buy from a reputable person on SNet who's looked after their vehicle

Yes,I wasn't keen on the pod colour,either!
Ian is getting it changed to black, along with doing the wheels in anthracite,as I am not a fan of the cliched blue and gold look.
Also getting a full 3inch exhaust, forge dump valve,K@N panel filter and a re map.
Looking forward to picking it up.

Dont think you will have any issues with Litchfields he provides a decent warranty if you ask for it (on top of your 3 months etc).
Did you not see that white Spec C up in Scotland for sale also?
Tony (just bought a nice white spec c limited myself )

Cheers Tony, I already have a Spec C in mind that another South Wales Scooby's member is selling, it is local so I'll have a look at that one first.
I'll expand the search further should there be a problem, plus I am also going to have a look at a UK Hawkeye Spec D as I do like the torque that the 2.5 litre engine puts out.
The only thing that concerns me is the head gasket failures on the 2.5 engine plus I might also have a look at a couple of Hatchback STI's as well.

Many thanks to the buyer of my car, glad you like the car and I hope you enjoy it is much as I have.
Thanks as well for ringing me when you got home to let me know how much you appreciated the condition of the S202 and how well it accelerates, stops and handles.
