Unfortunately i agree with Paulwrx! Unfortunately you will be seen at the trouble maker. In my current place, all the good staff left long ago due to being trouble makers who stood up for themselves.

no excuses at all 4 me. i would batter the fat p****,simple as.... if it continued i would then do his mates 1 by 1 and then fatty again,if i had to take 3 pastings to get the better, then so be it,but all would be resolved in the end, just my opinion, would not tolerate muppets.havent got the patience, but i would use my head and do it in the right place at the right time. i would thoroughly enjoy..its the wrong attitude i know, and dosent really help your situation,if u are a patient person, then play the brain game mate.....good luck anyways.

Kinda seems a lose lose situation then, because if I let it continue (5 months of the current year left) and I snap then I lose. If I report it and try nip it in the bud I lose.

Damage limitation? Or am I banking on his previous record going against him.

COB,
At risk of contradicting myself, why not just stay quiet and do nothing.

Does this guy actually bully you physically? steal your dinner money? or wait for you outside the gate?? probably know, so just put up with some verbal abuse and see your apprenticeship out.

OR Kick him in.

don't sit on the fence.... and on reflection grassing him up probably won't help.

I did my apprenticeship at Fords and i can tell you, the fatter you were and the bigger gob you had, the higher up the ladder you got !!! - i kid you not !

put up or shut up time !!!

also how do you know he's bad mouthing you on facebook if he's not your friend? delete any association with him and get on with your life instead of worrying about what other people say about you behind your back (it will do you no good at all and you will become paraniod (yes, more paranoid than you are)...!!!

punch him in the fat face tomorrow and let us know how good it felt !!!

Andy, is it really worth all this hassle?

In a few months you will most likely be away from this group and can get on with your own career. If people want to be childish, and get their kicks out of making snide comments, be the bigger person, man up and ignore him/them.

It would be different if you had to work with him permanently.

As for Facebook, it is a huge cause of trouble especially in workplaces (from my experience anyway). However, it's easy to ignore in the grand scheme of things.

As already said. Man up. You'll deal with and work with loads of c**ts during your career. The fact is you have to learn to deal with them either by ignoring them or playing the game and making sure you're the one seen in a good light. You worked so hard to get this position you should suck it up and not get dragged to this blokes level....

.. and I'm right about facebook. Bin it or at least delete him and others as friends. I don't know how it works but you get the gist.

Humiliate the tosser without you being the one the that instigates it. Words can be very hurtful. There must be notice boards in the area, slap something up that will make him rile, but equally dont take glory for it. This should defect the attention back onto him... but again you take no pride in doing so or it will gt worse... Ignoring is all great but by doing this without deflecting the attention doesnt always work. I like the Van idea or speak to your mates for advise as they know you well so can relate to what is best. If it was me I would try the Slimfast idea mention above with the ring pull removed and the ring pull on the teachers desk lol.

Facebooks evil is the fact that we share certain friends on there. I have a few lads I work with from other groups who I like so have them added. He's the "wanna be everyones bezzy mate type" so has pretty much all 70 odd apprentices on there. So if one writes a message and I can see it, I can see whatever he writes. All this started with some banter on a photo of us all at the start of the year. Someone then recommented months later and he'd obviously decided to take it upon himself to try wind me up the next level.

Somethings obviously clicked in his jam filled bonce because before we had like a mutual unmentioned understanding. I wouldn't make jokes or laugh at jokes about him and likewise him with me. Very little eye contact etc. All was fine. Fat ****'s just decided he obviously needs a target, but he doesn't understand that I'm not 16 and not as easy/impressionable as many of the other lads on the apprenticeship.

Actually looking forwards to work this morning, I wanna see if he's so vocal when I'm in the visinity. Shame this wasn't July/August time when the year comes to an end as that's when I'd be asking for revenge idea's and not grienvance issues

I'm confused.

Not long ago you were in dire financial straits and were desparate need of a job. Now you have an excellent apprenticeship and a good future, and you're willing to risk it all due to some fat tosser with a Napolean complex?

Jeez mate, get a grip and look at the big picture. He's one man and you're stressing out over him pushing your buttons.

Either face him in public or ignore him. Either way take control of your life and get on with it.

I think that the next time he came out with the verbals I would be very tempted to walk up to him and empty a glass of water down inside of the front of his trousers!

It would certainly get an extended laugh!

Just blank him. Why do you need to respond to what he says?

I've been in charge of teams before & if there's an issue to sort out I'll happily step in as the most senior person in the room as long as I've been told what's going on. Who's in charge of the group, do they know about it & what have they done so far / why aren't they sorting it?

TX.

It's not just so much him, more just that he knows how to entertain the younger lads at their level and involve them, making it more difficult to ignore.

Saying that, was 2 very good examples of his pathetic attitude today. One at morning break when I burped, said pardon and he mumbled under his breath "dirty ****". But quickly as to try gain one over me. Shrugged it off and drank my coffee. Dinner time was just as sad. Having a chat with another group member about something and he's over the table sat saying to me "don't care", "don't care". I lol'ed and carried on.

Everything hes doing is getting written down. May not sound like much on here but in the situation itself I'm not going to open my gob as I'll lose my job if I do. Call me a bottler, I don't really care.

I ignore his snidey comments for the reasons above. If he asks me something, because I'm polite and don't want to be at his level I answer with 1-2 words. He hasn't done this for a while, so it's basically at the stage where I'm recording everything in a diary.

I've just spoken to my Union guy who's in turn notified the Corus Union conveyer. He wants to keep it informal if possible and someone should have a word with him warning this stuff can get you sacked. Depedant on what happens in the next couple of days I will discuss it with the group instructor who is a big old fashioned Yorkshire bloke who takes no prisoners (and likes me for my work ethic).

I'll leave it there.

Possibly. He gets a lot of banter thrown his way as he does himself no favours with his attitude, so the other group members really lay into him sometimes. It probably kills him a little inside as most the stuff is true but said as banter, hence his desire to try pick an argument with me, the guy who doesn't throw crap his way as I'm more mature than that.

To be honest due to my age I'm probably the outcast as I have a (unintentional, just natural) much more mature outlook on life and work. But when I get the baldy comments or anything like that from other group members, it gets thrown back as it's jest. With him, it's a nasty intent so is ignored and recorded, simple.

Jamie, is the grenade shaped like a choad, would be fitting

You say you have deleted him off your facebook but you still manage to reply to his posts?
And if you have deleted him why do you keep going on his page to check what he has wrote?

You always get some miserable brown nosing **** who wants to get some one sacked on every job and it sounds like its you

Tbf he hasn't said he has been looking on his wall at all, if he's leaving snide comments on other peoples posts he's bound to see it.
What you really need to do is play him at his own game, I am a welder and have come across this countless times from when I was serving my apprenticeship to now 6 years on due to changing firms all the time. I know you say you do take the **** and have banter with the other lads but not him because of his intention? Lay into the fat f***er anychance you get, hit him with all the fat jokes you can imagine he will soon pipe down, once he loses face it's game over. Don't bother doing it formally with letters etc as the bosses want lads who can look after themselves, get on with things no matter what.. Trust me mate it's the only route I am afraid in this game now go and enjoy ripping the fat c**t to bits!

Dave, there's your answer.

Only thing being with giving him the fat jokes is he/someone else may report me - a risk I'm not going to take as I'm seen as the boring matrure one.

Thanks for peoples advice, I'll leave it here before it gets out of hand (as seen from previous experience).
Will let you know how it turns out.
