Anyone know if and where I could get a hatch STI 6-speed gearbox to go into my WRX? Will it fit? or should I just convert the 5 speed to stronger internals when it comes to upgrading it?

The clinic will refurb mine for £3k into stronger internals and will take up to 560bhp, but if i had 6 gears, i think id get better economy on motorways, just want to compare the two prices you know.
Exedy clutch as well of course, pumps it up another few hundred but if i can get gearbox and clutch same time, clutch gets fitted labour-free rather than separate.
Roll on end of year when I can hopefully get enough cash for it to be done, just got to drive careful with current box and clutch otherwise scoob be on the drive going no where til i get the money if it pops before then.

Kev will do a spanking job, Im sure. 560 gee-gees is an awful lot and I feel you need to consider braking and suspension upgrades too, aswell as your gearbox. The list will go on and on, as will the costs involved. Im only looking at around 450ish when its back, and thats "slapping the wallet" a fair bit..

Has anyone got set of classic bucket type seats for sale. Not bothered about the condition of the fabric as they will be re-trimmed anyhow as long as the cushions/foam is mint.
Time for my 3rd seat change...

Dave at API has come back, they want £3180 (inc VAT) plus extra for fitting, the clinic wants £3600 inc vat and inc fitting so swings and roundabouts, they're on par with each other (I did not reveal costs to API btw from the clinic).
Out of the two, I would use the clinic ,simply because they've done a great job on what they have done to my car and I'll stick to them as they are more familiar with it as they've worked on it previously.
As far as the extra stuff I would have to get to accompany 500bhp+, I know the brembos will prob have to give way to AP Racing ones (though it can wait until funds are avaiable), would prob have to go for coilovers though I think the suspension is ok with the eibachs I already have on there until funds are available for the coils. (Are coils and shocks the same thing ?) Everything else in the engine compartment is ready for the power upgrade as thats what I wanted to start with, big outlay at beggining and then smaller amount to bring it up to what I want. i.e. I only need the gearbox/clutch done and I can remap push my turbo for the 360bhp before having to upgrade that to a SC46 to get what I need as all the others bits have already been done (except for injectors, but they're not that expensive).
For now, (this year anyway), clutch and gearbox are my goal, just dont want it packing up on me til i change it, sods law will dictate it will go pop on my way to the clinic to get it done tho lmao

Nothing wrong with shopping around, but try to remember all the things involved. A warrenty after its done, experience and knowledge that only comes from years of rebuilding gearboxes. Ive done one before,(long long time ago) but I wouldnt want to do one for my own car now. And quality. You can choose between a £30 bottle of "chase" vodka, or the £5 bottle off the "man down the car boot sale".. which would you rather drink????
