Bankers draft?
Can you tell me pls (a) can / will barclays check the draft for me & confirm it's authentic (b) will they also confirm it's not been cancelled / reported stolen (c) once I've paid it in, can it still be cancelled / reported stolen?
Plan is to check (a) & (b) then walk straight to my Bank / branch & pay it in. Understand that it will take a few days to clear on 2-4-6 basis eg in account albeit can't use it, in account & can be used, in account guaranteed as Bank now takes the risk of fraudulent cheques.

I used to work in a bank and have made out hundreds of these things.
The funds must be in the banks possesion and while they can be reported stolen if its been paid into an account in the name of the payee, that the bank will already have a record of and cannot be changed, the police would be called straight away. Fakes are the biggest risk but if you call the bank it is drawn on you should be ine.

I've bought a car using a bankers draft and I've also sold one and accepted a bankers draft.
When I bought the car, I turned up with a bankers draft, the guy rang the issuing bank and they confirmed they had issued it and funds were there.
When I sold my car and accepted a bankers draft, I rang the issuing bank and they confirmed it was genuine.
Job done.
