That's a bit harsh calling the driver a "plonka".
After the incident I spoke with the Trackmaster Instructor who was in the car at the time. As most of those on track would have known the Porsche GT3 was caring a yellow square with black diagonal cross denoting a novice which was the reason the driver paid to have the Instructor in the passy seat.
The reason the car went out of control was quote Instructor "we were just coming onto the Grandstand straight and at the precise moment the driver changed from 3rd to 4th the car crossed running water on the track which unbalanced the car and hence the total loss of control".
How many of the so calling drivers on Monday thought they were in full control all the time?
At least this poor guy know he needed Instruction, unhappily as it may have ended for him.
So have a heart guy's it could well have been your car being totaled.

I don't think anyone on here would insult someone who has just smashed there pride & joy.

As said above - I think you have misread - certainly the feeling amongst everyone on here is one of being gutted for the Porsche / Porka owner.
We all love cars, nice cars, and I think anyone would be a fool to criticise such an unfortunate incident in poor weather conditions.
I for one am just glad he & his passenger were okay.

I can definately agree with the statement above. I had simular thing happen to me at same spot twice but not as bad

First was just a twitch
Next lap, a car pulled over for me to overtake by the apex cone, came just off line to go passed, when level with his boot, I hit the standing water and fish-tailed for ages. I thought i'd go over the line backwards
pulled in next lap to turn around underwear
I was just VERY lucky, my car was not as powerful, I did not touch the Grass and perhaps a little bit more experienced.
Tony
ps
i was on clearways as he entered the pit straight I saw him twitch, next thing RED lights, flags and wreckage. very sad

Scooby Hoo - FWIW the orange Porsche didn't passed me, regardless of who was driving it.
The black Porsche on the other hand........
I was chatting to the owner of the orange one at the hotel the night before, and he seemed a really nice guy, so gutted to see what happened.
At least he was ok though, thats the main thing.
