I quoted the wrong one

meant this one

For example at Oulton Park I have auctioned the pax seat during the warm up and the money raised is going to a local hospice that cares for old folk. Raised about £350 so far.
I'll see what she says about the external pant wearing though! Frilly Knickers at the ready!

You might need to worry about a new skyline with a familiar driver in club-pro, I hear it has a new mapper!

I presume you are talking about Shane ?

I have no delusions about walking to podiums in this class - I know it will be very tough to get top 5 let alone anything higher.

Daren making some for me and will be fitted along with polycarbonate windows.

I can then leave these doors ready for them to go back on at the end of the season when it gets turned back into road going monster again (ish)

I am hoping the car will weigh less than that but the aero additions add weight and IMO are a worthwhile penalty. I know it will be a chunk lighter than last year - maybe enough for 2 seconds a lap with a bit more in the power and a bit more in me.

Yes - the biggest side effect is that the scenery seems to pass by quicker. Cant quite work out why

Other than that - I cant understand why more people aren't using it. It just needs more fuel and mapping for it.

i dont use it because its far to expensive for what it is, £3 per litre for e85 or £4.20 per litre for race fuel, dont get me wrong you can use the morrisons **** but lets be honest about this who at this level does.

Oh thats comforting to hear iv just had mine mapped on it,the only problem is the nearest Morrisons is 45 minutes away!!!

I was unsure if i was doing the right thing with it being a relatively new fuel
I will say one thing, you dont half seem to get through it

Some people follow the same 'power is everything' creed. It isnt.

To get the same effect in acceleration I would need to have added 50 bhp - quite easy you would think. I agree, but factor in braking distance shortening, handling improvements and reduced stress, i think lighter is always going to win the day in terms of laptimes. If dyno charts won championships then maybe a different tactic would be needed

Now power and lightness would be ideal but it is interesting and revealing running the standard position turbo that I do (admittedly the best there is with the MD321V) to way over what people thought was possible with a straight bolt on turbo and especially with no fancy cams or heads.

Thanks Andy - I think 1350 is realistic - sure it would be nice if it was lighter, but the budget and timescale is very limited and as long as it is lighter than last year (which 1350 would be) then i know I am going to be potentially quicker.

I don't think I quite maxed the car's potential last year so if it is better and I can push closer to the edge of the potential then I will be happy. if that is quicker than others then great - if it isnt then well done whoever that is - if it is you, then hopefully I will be one of the first to congratulate you - you deserve some payback for last year's heartache.

morrisons will not be selling it soon due to, the fuel goes off too quick and not enough demand

Where does all this rubbish come from ?

There are tanker loads of BioEthanol leaving every day from just up the road from where I live (where it is made). Heading to Esso, Shell, Greenergy, Tesco and all other petrol refiners as they are enforced on using bioethanol in their fuel by the government.

I will continue to use the Morrisons E85 from my nearest 3 morrisons - nearest is 45 miles away. They have just added it to another local site - doesnt quite tie in with the scoobynet myth of them withdrawing it

Lighter is always better but more power for minimal weight saiving will be just as good. You always said yours was a normal car and you are now adding plastic doors, imatation glass etc etc. I'm sure going rotated and picking the right turbo would of been sooo much less hassle? and with less fuel additions ?

Steve

- so the choice of MD321V turbo is wrong ?
- i am wrong to use alternative or green fuel ?

The doors are being done for the race season - the old doors will bolt back on at the end of the year but I am forced into a full roll cage in order for the car to be eligible to compete. That is forcing the temporary change of the car from daily driver to track car. It will go back to road duties afterwards - although less often admittedly.
