kev bev is a fantastic pilot, many people are in the opinion if kev were dedicated enough and had the funding a driving career is a serious possibility. he is a very very aggressive driver. the clinic love havin him on the team, hes definateley their no1 driver when andy mckenna not around. if he can get this car built ill have some money on him
how big is the jump going to be for you to club pro? you went up on the 5% rule so you must be on club pro pace. your engine spec must be up to speed and once the car is stripped to weight it should just be down to best man wins are'nt most of the competetive club pro cars around 500-600 bhp. will you be taking your own guys to do your support or will you still be with zen?

Having said that.... I'm not actually doing TA this year. Might do Oulton as a OHW as it's local, but probably no others. I can't afford the expense of the whole season. Maybe next year.
I think the BTCC car that Duncan talked about earlier is a Duxbury car too, but it's club as far as I know. Robin's wife will be driving it.

Yeah thats the one, ex Halfords team. Goes pretty well I have heard. It's been fully broken down and rebuilt from scratch. Some engine mods too as touring car power isn't enough.

The step up is big and the winner in that class last year was in the ex RC developments stripped out race car I think running a lot more than my 550 bhp (as were second, third and fourth too). None of them are in it this year so it is difficult to know what/who will be quickest.
I have no 'guys' of my own and Zen aren't providing support this year so I will rely on friends and volunteers in the pits but will continue to do all/almost all of the work on the car myself. It will meet the regs but will not be a featherweight race car like some.

Cheers again to Tim (Subbus) for the stainless welding yesterday
I now have charge temperatures fully loggable and running this for the temperature compensations rather than just a gauge. Quite interesting to actually record how well the massive APS fmic is working.
Cage construction is scheduled for after the Marham 30-130 day so I will take a day or so to strip the interior and get it ready for them. SHP Motorsport will be building it again (they build my bolt in cage before which is now in Steve Fulbrooks car)
They will be building a full MSA spec weld in cage and painting the full interior to make it look spangly. It should offer some much needed chassis rigidity too which will be useful.

I don't have time to test on my car unfortunately. i know the hybrid core works very well though as I believe that is what Paul had on the zen green car and that wasnt shy of power.
It is very interesting to see how efficient the intercooler really is with data logged at 100 times a second on temperatures under high boost situations. Obviously being cold out at the moment helps the baseline figure but the rate of increase would remain through a range of conditions.
I will do some definitive datalogs and publish them for varying boost levels.

anyway, thanks for the offer Harvey but I wont be swapping stuff that works for stuff that works - no time for that.
Minimal preparation and running last years power (and the same as 2008 too) will be the name of the game to benchmark myself in the new class and see what needs to be done. Maybe later in the season work will be done to get power up but I don't think power is the name of the game. Maybe I have been around Paul and the Zen Performance team for too long but they never needed huge power to deliver great times. I 100% agree with the way they did it.
The car goes in for cage install next week - should take it til the end of the month to be sorted and possibly ready for a final test before Oulton Park in new lighter trim.
Doors and glass will be replaced with new lightweight items/polycarbonate, along with stripping some of the interior trim out (or all of it) - this should free up enough weight to ofset the steelwork going in.

the offset didnt work quite enough for me regarding cage, but then again mine is an ra classic so the trim and ancilularys will prob be lighter on mine i think. however there are so many things you can loose if you put your mind to it. regarding weight.
