Testing again at Mallory on friday after a very near miss the other night..

Just started the car up and was letting it warm up after fitting much stiffer springs all round and the rubber seal on the top of the oil filter (HKS) decided it was going to blow out and drop ALL the oil over the floor of the workshop at zen. An instant of nasty squeeley dry bearing noise and I managed to kill the ignition and start the clean up operation before filling it back up with oil and seeing whether it has succeeded in committing suicide !!

Luckily it seems ok but it has probably shortened the life of the bearings unfortunately

Anyway, springs are now 14kg/mm front and 12kg/mm rear and seem really nice even on bumpy fen roads on the drive home on the BC ER series coilovers (up from the standard 10/8 pairing). The increased aero was the main reason for the change.

Alignment wasnt re-done as Paul from Zen had to go up to API to help out but set up manually with camber gauges to get close to what it was before and close enough to use as a base for setting the ride heights on these springs on track.

Should be interesting to see how it drives on track - never done Mallory before so looking forward to that

Duncan, are the shocks your using the same as other folk can buy off the shelf or are they a higher spec made for you? I believe both BC coil overs and Apex are one in the same? are you using the Apex items or the BC's.

I am looking at purchasing a new set of shocks for my car for fast road & track days (& the occasional Club Challenge round hopefully) and am pondering between the BC's, AST's and possibly Buddy clubs

Cheers,
Lee.

Hi Lee

Yes my BC ER series coilovers are standard off the shelf items. They work very nicely IMO and compare very favourably to the more far expensive exe-tc that were on there before.

The aftersales support from Bren and the team at Apex is second to none too so that is another big bonus

Come on Duncan get the new thread up. Can't wait to see what you've been doing. I didn't get to see you last season so would be good to have a look at how the car has come on.

Matt.
