Got the dry sump on the engine now.

This is a revised dry sump pump based on the feedback from the trials that Paul and I did on our cars. The revisions make no difference to the operation of it just make it easier to remove and refit the belt, tidy up the front pulley, adjust the oil pressure and drain the oil out of the car (not that this was hard).

Engine is now all ready to fit into the engine bay. Hopefully I will have some time over the weekend to sort this but if not it will be in (and hopefully running) on monday

It went well mate. The STi TMIC was holding it back a bit to be fair but I heard him disappear up the road and it sounded lively enough lol

Dropped the engine into the car last night:

Went pretty smoothly although would have been a lot easier with help.

I've just got to connect a few things up and then turn it over for a while to build up some oil pressure then see how it runs Not nervous at all no no lol

It lives !!!

Despite some dramas last night and again this morning with oil pressure dropping like a stone to zero once started up. The pressure relief valve was sticking and huge thanks to Paul and Liz for calming me this morning and arranging replacements at VERY short notice.

Aside from a shredded dry sump belt (install error on my behalf) and recovery home the 15 miles I drove this evening were spot on oil pressure wise and car felt strong up to 5k and 0.5 bar of boost.

Will be back up and running again tomorrow evening to get some more running in miles on it.

Chilled out now despite the issues as the main thing is that it works. You cannot underestimate the sense of acheivement in putting every single component together, putting the engine in the car then (with a few niggles) it works and drives you up the road.

It felt and sounded awesome.

150 running in miles done today with a mixture of revs and boost (up to 1.25 bar today) and all good apart from blowing fuses in the fuel pump for fun until I cleaned the contacts on the relay and re-seated the power/earth wires for the pump. Really need to resolve that one asap or at least be sure that it is solved by the steps above before time is an issue.

Oil pressure is a lovely stable and smooth 4 - 5 bar under most driving conditions (and also temps) so far even with running in oil. The full release version of the dry sump pump seems perfect.

As such, my confidence is growing in the integrity of my engine and the love for the car too.

She's just run 496bhp on straight vpower @ 1.5bar... Plenty more to come too.

Very well done on the build Dunc, nice to see you again too.
