I'm predicting that Matt thinks he's going to walk it when his car is finally done. I think the reality is going to be somewhat different.

yellowvanman, the only gobbing off i have done pal is when i didnt believe that the power of duncans engine was achievable without race fuel, and if you recall duncan and his mates didnt take that very well, unlike me when i achieved 603hp @ 1.55 bar and i got 3 replies saying i was talking b00l0cks. i think i took that quite well by sending pms with graphs, then they all went quiet. i only speak my mind, i have nothing againt duncan in anyway shape or form and i do wish him all the best in ta club pro as there are not many scoobs in club pro this year. i just didnt believe him on one thing thats all.just like he didnt believe me on one thing. anyway please can we talk about the tread now.

I hope that making the final in a 'standard' WRX hasn't made you turn cocky.
There are a lot of races left this year, as for someone who has't even got a completed car, and has only done 1 round, you should really pipe down (IMO)

Anyway, back to Duncans thread.....

Glad the gremlins seem to be sorted now, and looking forward to seeing the results at Knockhill

Seem to be a good mix of cars doing TA this year, and the CPR Evo's look like they'll take some beating.

The facts are plain and simple Andy - you were wrong.

I hope your engine gets rebuilt again and see you up in Scotland next week

anyway..

Round 1 was a great learning exercise for me in a new class, a very different car and lots of unfinished (and unchecked) parts.

It went well on the day but the pure number of hours put in on the car (and working/mapping beforehand) meant that it was going to be down to the wire.

Thanks to some awesome help from ABW I had new doors 2 days before the round and windows arrived the same day and with Tim's help got those on the day before setting off to Oulton Park.

I had not driven the car in the new state til rolling out of the pit lane for warm up and ran low boost to get used to it - it felt great and was immediately 2 seconds quicker than last year.

Practice and boost was upped and more time got whilst learning the car and relearning lines - all was good.

Qualifying and I couldnt stop locking the brakes under braking and i felt the car lacking in normal power and increased noise but put it down to lack of interior and vowed to try harder in the final and get the braking right.

The final came and went and I gained almost a second over qualifying but the car felt even less powerful and with worsening braking problems. I put it down to my overeagerness to late brake until I came to the final lap and I lost the brake pedal altogether and cruised into the pits to see fluid leaking all over the wheels and tyres. This was why the braking lockups were happening. Turned out to be the union pipe that joins the two caliper halfs on the drivers side - the nuts had come loose and were dripping fluid.

On driving the car on the tuesday up to Leeds (daily driver duty) the boost leak was obvious with only 0.7 bar available and lots of hissing - the noise i heard on saturday on track was obvious now. Split pipe from turbo to IC:

All fixed now and other finishing work done on the work that couldnt be done pre oulton and almost ready for knockhill with full power and full braking

i am not saying its a fact duncan, i am just trying to get across that i didnt believe it was achievable. you say it is and showed graphs and allsorts to back your corner up.is i said before i do speak my mind and sometimes people dont like that. it was nothing personal to you. just like when you qestioned me i didnt take it personally. the subaru industry is a big learning curve for everyone with so many different variants available. in a perfect world i would like to join you at knockhill in my subaru, the reality is i will be there but not in my subaru as i have sold it. i would like to do another round but i think snetterton or 2011 is realistic for me in my evo v11 rs. hopefully this will be a bit more reliable for me. i will come and introduce myself to you at knockhill and hopfully this can be put behind us.

once again good luck for knockhill

Any in-car vids Duncan?

Notice a big difference in the car since its lost a bit of weight, or hard to tell since swaping to BC's at the same time.

Unfortunately not - I had arranged for Racelogic Video Vbox but ran out of time to go and get it prior to that round Adam. It was more important to get the work done. Hopefully will do for knockhill.

It definitely feels more nimble and responsive to changes of direction than before and would have been better with proper power/boost. i ran for a few thousand road miles on the BC and it is very noticeable on the weight loss side of things.

Biggest change however is the pure noise of the thing from inside

only last year at TOTB where it ran 11.4. There is a 10 second run in it though.

Duncan,, I would say with your 30-130mph result you would be running a 10.8 1/4
Adamgt ran his evo the day before you at mareham and ran 8.3 30-130mph
He then went to pod and ran 10.5 @ 135.5mph,,

not so much of a daily driver now although I have been known to drive it down to surrey or yorkshire.

It really isnt that pleasant to drive though with no interior now However earplugs do help a lot

It is a lot more ready for knockhill than it was for oulton - still a few bits to do but nothing too dramatic.

Wheels are getting powder coated white on sunday by '2 brother coating' in sheffield - should be awesome

Also finished wiring in oil pressure into the syvecs so that this can be datalogged fully along with some other tidy up jobs.

Should be a lot better up there with brakes and power
