E39 M5's suffered with their "quad vanos" systems failing/noisy. They are £2500.00 each (you need per bank so thats £5k parts only) plus fitting. That sort of money stings. Plus the front timing covers leaked like bloody siffs, and were an absolute nightmare to replace! Not many BMW specialists would even touch an S62(engine code) vanos job, even main dealer technicians try to avoid them if they see the job in the "waiting to be fixed" list. Get one with an approved BMW extended warranty if you really want one. Otherwise it will destroy you from the wallet up!!!!

i tell you what, if you like bmw's the nicest one ive seen is my bosses supercharged e39

as for the downsides listed above
this one has a huge brake conversion and boy does that stop in an instant
and his is a tiptronic gearbox with paddle shift

so many extras on this one from hamann staggered wheels, m5 package, supercharger.....
just advertising it now have a look

got more pics and full details if you fancy a proper look at it

I'm amazed the gearbox on that didn't throw a wobbly. Put an ac schnitzer s/charger kit on a 330ci sport auto once- Took the car out and the gearbox light came on. So back into the workshop- to find a torque limitation fault stored. Spoke to BMW uk and was instucted to remove the kit- About 2 months later BMW stopped selling ac stuff. Not saying this one from ssdd motorsport is bad by the way!! (hear nothing but good things about that lot!!) that 5 should be pushing around the 300bhp mark, and a bucket of torque!!

Rooky thanks for the info on the old M5.

The car shown on this page i do not like as it just looks like a fake M5 and if it really just has about 300bhp whats the point as the real thing has 400?

Not putting it down but iv done the not so real thing before (wrx looking like sti) This time round ill do it right from the start

Come on Ash!! Sounds to me that you are getting serious, I think we both know what the real deal is mate:https://www.scoobynet.com/private-sa...r-limited.html

With a few mods and a new turbo nothing will catch you not even Mr Budgen!!

Or even go for this one - keeping it in the family if you know what I mean
