You sure there is no bleed valve?

ive had a clio for ages, rs tunning are renault specialists, ive known then on the cliosport forum for ages and remmeber when they first started out as an off shoot of there family run renault specialist.

the main turbo cars theyve encountered isa megane 225 as thats pauls own car, well it was, seems he has that r26-r now.

he said the evo was running about 330 bhp so simple breathing mods and a remap? by the looks of it he is starting to do a range of cars now.

but the last 5 or so years have been renault clio sports and then the megane when it came out, followed by their most recent supercharged clio 172 project?

so most experience is from non turbo cars, however with him opening his own place now, it should change as goes on

No, there's nothing like that on the car. I do have a manual boost controller to fit though. Since the de-cat, the car has been overboosting occaisionally, so I'm gonna fit it and wind the boost down a bit so it doesn't go above 15 psi.

Spoke to Andy at AET about this on Monday and again today

He has asked if some of the guys who went down to Rs would like to run there cars on the Dyno ? I have booked my car in to go on there after he has sorted a Lancia he is working on.

He did say if some of the guys on the BB would like to make a small group booking he could sort it this week (during the day )

Default Email from RS Tuning

I received an email from Paul at RS tuning yesterday regarding whats been posted on the thread.

Hi Dave

Just been having a read of the thread. There was no tyre slip at all; you
can clearly see this on the graph if it happens. Also the comment on the
fan, this is the exact same position used when I map Subaru's and never
suffer intake temp issues so just for a power run it's no problem at all.

I understand people are not happy with the results but blaming the dyno is
not the answer, I even took time to explain why the cars were doing what
they were, lets face it, if the results were up on expectations then the
dyno would be accurate :-). Look at the standard cars, they did what they
were supposed to if not more. Bar the Clio but that's a common Renault
thing, they never make book power!

It's hard running with the Dyno Dynamics sometimes because they are widely
known as ego buster or heart breaker.

If anyone wants the snapshot file for the car I can send them no problem.

Many Thanks

Paul Murray
After getting a pm of Andrew Carr on sunday and him having a look at my graphs i know why my car didn't make what i expected.

Mine didn't make the boost it does on the road 1.3 v 1.45 bar and it is running a bit richer than when it was mapped.

Andy asked me to ring him mid morning tomorrow to see if there was any intrest in the runs.

I just want to know if the reading is correct and there is not a problem with the car ,I do not think in my own mind that a RB320 is 290 bhp I know the tourque is around 320lb but that is a great loss of power for any STANDARD car which mine is.

Looking at the results it begs the question "are the srandard cars standard" both are unknown by the owners.
The only two standard cars were mine and the clio both down 20+ bhp on power.

I will post the results from AET and if it is correct eat my hat ( and put it up for sale LOL )

How would you compare the results from a wheel dyno to a hub dyno?

When I had my car on the rollers, it was running 306 BHP, then the mapper took the car out on the road to make sure it was all good on the road, there were changes made. the car did not go back on the rollers until RS day, that says when a car is set up on the rollers it is then changed for the road, the power might of come down for the road run, but it runs safe,

Because they both use "fiddle factors" to estimate crank horsepower

So they should tell you actual wheel horse power then you can really compare other "rollers"
Doesn't help with hub systems but they are more accurate (AET)

Unfortunately that doesnt work either so impossible to compare really.

Maha measures whp really low.
Dyno Dynamics is also low but not as low as Maha.
Dastek shows the highest whp.

They all come out at very similar bhp figures though.

Default B H P Fig @ AET Turbo Today

Hi all

Had the car on the rollas at AET today and it did 260bhp @ the wheels and with the calculation was 320bhp and 320 lb torque

This is more like it

Default Hmmmmm

So what does all this now mean?

a) The rollers at RS are incorrect, or AET are showing higher power than actual?
b) You car failed to perform on the day at RS
c) Different atmospheric conditions or Fuel?

This puts a fair large spanner in the works.

I have got my misfire issues resolved and i have bought some ported headers. So once this is on and mapped within the next week or two im getting it dyno'd again.

But as much as i feel RS Tuning wasnt indicating a true power read I also feel if i go back there at least it proves my misfires resolved and uprated headers and remap can gain more power, then it might be best to book in somewhere else the same day just to compare the dyno runs....

Any thoughts?

Rob

LEECOS you came in just as I was leaving, White Type R. Mine made 227/207 @ the hubs or 281/258 with that calculator, quite pleased as it's only running a hks cat back exhaust. Everything is running as it should.
