Tell me about it Gary I've got to much polishing gear now to go matt

The one thing I'll add is if you do want to laquer this carbon finish someone needs to try an experimental scrap panel first... I would say that you really need to see how the laquer reacts with the material, see how it sits in the weave and to make sure it does not react with the sticky back part of it just incase for some reason it lifts the carbon off the sticky back rear coating.

I like the Neffy wrap, I did my PS3 in it first for practise, but will do some interior bits with it when I get chance. I'm going to have a go at lacquering it too and see what that looks like. I used a creased bit, which you can see in the pic.

Si, the guy with the 355 has already tried laquacer and polishing on a few bits and so far not a lot of success. He is trying to get the proper wet look carbon weave going on...I'll see if I can take some pics of what he has tried so far...

Hello lads.

Spoke to Anthony who runs the company and he is happy to do a group buy.

Fud you have pm

5 people and he will do roofs for £150
He said he will do anything carbon or just normal vinyl on the car and include it in the group buy
If i get interest i will chuck in group buys? Not sure on the rules though? its not my company so im just helping others out?

Any questions inquiries you can ask and i will give his number?

Not sure if this is of any interest but Brian (355 with the wrapped bits owner), has sent me this;

There are 2 decent CF vinyls out there that I am aware off AAIP and 3M. The 3M is twice the price but you put them side by side and the 3M looks more realistic, try wrapping something and you can see where the extra money goes as the AAIP is vulnerable to tearing easily where as the 3M is 10x more hardy. One of the advantages of the AAIP is that it is wider so if you need to do a whole roof or bonnet then you will probably only be able to use the AAIP vinyl.

We (Simon from SJS Design and myself) tried various different lacquers and resins to see if we could get the 'wet look' effect we all love, Simon also tried laminating the CF vinyl. All tests had the same results, the CG Patten was dulled and it looked terrible. We think the reason for that is if you look at real CF strands they are shiny and reflect light back, these vinyls are matte so you will never get those results. Simon did find a vinyl that somehow used real CF that had the look you were after but the costs at the time were proportional to getting real CF parts e.g. enough of this to cover a bonnet was the same price as buying a complete CF bonnet so why would you bother.

Other options I have tried are to wrap panels with real CF. Good results but not for the faint hearted, you can't peel that off if you get bored and it takes a lot of initial investment and practice to get the desired finish.

I am not the expert on these materials but Simon is and what he doesn't know about wrapping and the products available aren't worth knowing. He is a top guy and very helpful so give him a call on 08445 870507 and check out his web site. http://www.sjsdesign.com

Thanks for sharing that info trails. I'm defo not getting top coat if thats the case.
Vinyl matters have said they can do almost any colour you want. Will work out about 900(outside group buy) for normal vinyl of whole car including bumpers and about 300 more for carbon as i have it. I know fud is trying to negotiate a price so hopefully it can come down. I will speak to fud and vinyl matters today and get a price up in group buy section. No worries for help mate happy to help
