How are you going to convert the rack to make it suitable for the column mounted PS?
The standard rack will not put up with that electric power steering as it's designed to deflect in the pinion housing to actuate the hydraulic assistance.

I don't see why you couldn't modify a stock rack, take out the valving, modify the pinion shaft etc. But it seems like a lot of hassle to replace a perfectly good PS system that's not too heavy or bulky in the first place.
Titan Motorsport Engineering do a whole range of racks that would be suitable.

Thanks mate. It's taken a long time and now it's in bits because I'm not happy with aspects of it. Changing front brake master. Re fitting John Stevenson wiring loom neatly. Re positioning seat. Re designing rear defuser. Fitting wrc inspired roof vent. Fitting fuel cooler ducted via flat floor. Then just had a new lateral/ SD motorsport engine built after the demise of my bottom end at totb. Fresh ej22t block 97mm bore honed fitted with lateral race stroker pistons, lateral stroker race rods, nitride crank, acl bearings, 14mm head studs, cosworth head gaskets, avcs heads lateral ported polished with supertech valves springs titanium retainers, lateral race avcs cams. Just fitting with a new set of ID 2000. Cosworth manifold and scoobyclinic billet gt35 turbo.
