If you paid for it in dollars you would indeed be far away.

Aren't there VAG sites you could bugger off to?

My 12 yr old daughter has just tried scuba diving for the first time and loved it. Would`nt of happened if it was`nt for the ESC and the marvellous friends we`ve made in the club.

It stands to reason that not everyone is going to gel and there are spats from time to time but in general I everybody I have met I consider to be a good friend now

The way the club has gone recently made it a very easy decision to sell the scoob, many times I have come back due to missing the ESC meets rather than the cars themselves.

But this time I wasn't enjoying any part of the club side of things, but I have some fantastic memories of the years I have had, the meets, the convoys etc, they won't go, nor will the people I have met over the years who some I now consider good friends.

It can be clicky but so can everything, and like everyone says you get out what you put in.

I don't do the social side and that is my decision, but this is also a car club and it seems that the car meets are now not focussed on at all, which is a shame as its the cars that originally brought everyone together.

Again only my opinion not everyone wants a cosy night in a pub, especially if your a newbie fresh to the subaru make, you want to meet the people who are still into the cars, I know you were all priceless when I was looking for advice with what to do on the car and where to go, it just seems apart from the odd few that simply isn't there no more.

Even the forum can be and is a bit dull now, I enjoy the banter and there is still some of that on here thankfully.

Maybe we all need to accept there is a split in the ESC, not a bad one just a difference in what members want out of it.

There will still be all the social gatherings, but I think there needs to be more focus on some shows and meets again as this is where it all started.

Finally there are a lot of people who put effort into the ESC to keep it going, and it does pi$$ me off when Tiny & Karen are dug out by some members. What they need to realise is, if it wasn't for Tiny & Karen, Flat Eric, Brian etc... (to name a few) the ESC would probably have disappeared many years ago. So get off their backs, if you don't like it don't bother getting involved, rather than posting up sarcastic childish comments that are obviously written to prompt responses and disagreements.

Try and make 2010 the year of the ESC people, after all don't want the MSOC to think they are better than us do we.

Just for clarity Dave

We attended EVERY Major show last year, admittedly there was a low turnout by ESC but Brian posted details of every Show the SIDC attended and everyone we had a good turnout

Phil,

I know the shows are advertised and attended etc, it just seems that the numbers are made up from SIDC members rather than ESC, there used to be 20+ cars going to nearly everything. It's a shame the newer members can't experience that.

My 2penny's worth (though I feel I may have overspent!)

We are still considerably new to the ESC (March 09 I think), however I can honestly say we have never felt like newbies, almost without exception everyone has welcomed us and we have made some very good friends already.

We came to join because of our Scoob, but as has been said on here so many times before - it's not about what you drive. Yes, as Dave says, it is primarily a car club, with some good meets - Posers, Track Days & the Rally Show (4 ESC memers attended including Phil who manned the stand!) for example, however, the ESC does pride itself on being family orientated - something that drew us to the club in the first place. There really is something for everyone.

We have enjoyed some great events, from Brighton, Lydden Hill, Rally Show, MLR, The Lodge, Snetterton Track Day and as Simon said, more recently, the Diving. Things we may not have done without the ESC & it's members.

In life you will never ever get on with everybody, which is not a bad thing, we are all different. There will always be disagreements, but in the whole these can be laughed off. Recently I think it has become more personal and I for one don't like that.

Times do change, people come & go, however I feel at times like these people should pull together, support each other & especially support those at the helm, the back bone of the club. From where I am sitting there appears to be a core of the club that does an awful lot for other peoples enjoyment - for little or no thanks. I for one am extremely grateful for all they do & will support them fully when able.

One of the best times for us in the ESC was last August, when Team ESC took on & beat not only the MSOC but the Mitsi boys too. I don't think anyone there can fault the entire weekend - it was ESC at it's best.

And guess what - we are going to do it three-fold next year - with THREE ESC teams, so in my eyes that will be three times the fun!! So I say bring on 2010, long live the ESC, Captain Tiny, First Mate Karen and all the able crew mates!!

I know i'm new to all this and know all the original and older members have seen alot of changes but for me this is still a great club, i was saying to my other half on the way home from norwich fri night how good it is and how much i enjoy it, i used to belong to RTOC and now thats a clicky poorly managed club/site there was never anything organised, the national day would only see about 40 renault turbos there and no one would make the effort to talk to you, i'm really bad at trying to strike up a conversation and if theres a big group of people i'd normaly shy away but thats just me, but everytime i've been to a meet someone has always come up to me and chatted with me which gives more confidence to go to another meet as there is always someone to talk to

which ever club you belong to there will always be differnt groups of people but thats just life, please peeps don't sell your pride and joy just because of a few falling outs

to everyone who organises events, meets i take my hat off to you all

from scott a very happy and satisfied member of the ESC

Great times indeed David , makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck now just thinking of it , 3 lane block down the M4 / M25 , collecting another 50/60 scoobs from Reading services on our way to Japfest / Rallyday , Santa Pod , etc .. Awesome fantastic times

It's a shame the newer members can't experience that.
It is indeed mate , though to be fair & as mentioned Brian does post every event up , but it's a shame the events don't get supported like they used to , the newbies really are missing out FFS the convoys there & back were better than the actual events itself most of the time !! ** Note ** Newbies get out enjoy the shows !!

Had some real great times & met some awesome friends who i regard to be now FREINDS FOR LIFE , Ok i'm not involved in hardly anything anymore & wish i could just step away completely but deep down i'm ESC through & through even if i drive a poxy Focarse now i still feel a massive part of this club & hate to read negative comments regarding it , not picking but you mentioned a few names earlier & in my eyes most importantly missed the most important link .. Phil stephens a massive part of the ESC IMHO

just to touch on the convoy question that has been raised. Yes IMO there is no better sight than 3 landes full of scoobs going to jap fest, rally day or where ever!

However, when i first started going to events back in 2001/2002 there were only only a handfull of cars, this over the years grew and grew....only because new members got involved.

Over the years things have changed, for me especially, a family and no scoob now mean i will be at very few events/shows over the next few years.

To get these great convoys again newbies do need to get out there to fill the gaps that are being made by "older" members moving on.

NOTE TO NEWBIES: Watch out for Brian's threads over next years show season and get your names down....

I step out of the ESC ring for a few months and you guys and ladies have your boxing gloves on. The ref is back, de-glove, group hug and rub your bums together.

The primary aim of joining the ESC, is the love of scoobies and meeting with like minded peeps, everything else is irrelevant.

'Only a fool will be looking for Kate Moss in a BBW club'.

Cheer up guys, there are more important things in life than who invites you into their personal space or not. It's a friendly car club not a come be my life-buddy club.

No offence intended to anyone, I'm a loner with a big mouth in no so-called 'clique'.

My 2p worth.
