Looks like this chap is in need of your advice lookout...
As for my JDM, it's behaving like a true supercar, thanks
The handling & set-up alterations have transformed the car and I would say the correct, lowered set-up has proven to be inextricably linked to creating what I have now - truly amazing performance, synergising the rest of this car's incredible engineering.
OK, gush over
The wagon has the rear arb fitted, but is awaiting brake pads and so hasn't been tested. Will update the other thread as soon as.

ive got the Teins as you know... they lower the car 25mm back and 35mm front as my car in the pics..
ive had no issues regaurding bump stops at all...mine were fitted by one of the TOTB and Scooby shootout 'Team Subaru' drivers at his own garage and he never said anything was an issue.. he is a personal friend of mine too so he would have told me straight away

You WILL be sitting well into the front bump stops and your front spring rate will be sky high with no travel at all.
It may look good and feel ok on smooth roads but introduce some bumps, braking and corners and you will skip over the road like a go cart. Not good for fast B road action at all. But hey it looks good.

Lowering a newage sti with 35mm lowering springs on the front, without changing the bumpstops is madness!

Like a lot of others have said, lowering too much gives some nasty side effects. Bump travel is reduced too much and the car will bottom out everywhere. The effects of on the roll centre when lowering a car will make the car want to roll more during corners. Because the car is not able to roll more because of the reduced bump travel, the suspension rate will increase dramatically on the outside front wheel during cornering. This off course will reduce grip dramatically.
Some manufacturers make springs for the Impreza that just lower too much for the standard damper body. Great if you are only after looks, but pretty useless for fast progress.
I would choose springs that are proven to produce more grip in most situations and don't lower too much, like Eibach, Prodrive and Whiteline Control etc. Even then, I would fit other modifications like a Roll Centre Kit to reduce the increased distance between the COG and RC.

I am sure that there are plenty of people driving perfectly happy with cars running on the front bumpstops but that doesn't mean that their cars behave in an acceptable manner.
You could cut the standard bumpstops to suit the lowering...... But it might be worth doing a bit more research on the www to see what People in The Know say about springs that lower excessively on standard size bodied dampers, like Tein.
A quick google come up with http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1267918

right then guys looks like that idea is going out the window lol, if i was to go for coilovers, how much could i drop it with the below in mind
want to improve handling
what other requriments would i need doing if fitting colies
cheers

I measured the front travel when I re-greased the front struts, after reading about this issue on NASIOC.
Just measure the front travel minus the droop and you will find the std car is pretty much on the stops already. Lower by 40mm using just springs and you are 40mm into the stops increasing the actual front rate by an incredble ammount.
You could cut down the std bumpstops.

My coilovers are set to 14" front and rear 13.5" wheel center to arch. This seems ideal.
I have 25mm travel before the front bumpstops at any height I wish, this extra travel over the std setup makes all the difference.
