170+ mph in my old cossie but did not feel safe or even actually on the road at that speed.
160 mph in the wifes wagon the noise at that speed was the only thing that would drown out her shouting.

An indicated 160 on the ZX9R at the Nurburgring.
Although it was shifting i would say it was no doubt less than that (as many of these will be) as the speedo would be over reading. The bike was still pulling but officially tops out not much above that.
Pulled the brake on as i wanted to get back into the car park in one piece and the cones were approaching rather quickly.
5t.

140mph in a civic vti, flat out and kept it up for 30 miles on a toll road till the petrol light came on.
deafening at 7500rpm with a 3" exhaust.
car felt much more responsive after the trip, must have blown the cobwebs out.
Wouldnt dare it in the scoob grown out of that sort of thing now and it could end up quite expensive.

145 in an alfa 156, 135 in a fiesta st, only 135 surprisingly in the scooby (bit more sensinble nowadays), but heres the best one, i bought a volvo S40 once and took her out for a spin, done 125, then took it to get checked over to be informed " those front brakes are ready to explode mate", needless to say i dont make a habit of "trialling" a cars performance now!!! p.s. all on private roads of course. lol.

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that many Scoobynetters appear to have achieved far higher top speeds out of their cars than any of the actual car manufacturers or respectable car magazines have ever managed?
Oh well, makes good pub chat I suppose.

A point worth making is that, when using the same GPS kit that Stevebt mentions, I noticed that my speedo was over reading by around 5 mph so an indicated 160mph was actually 155mph.That might be part of some pub figures mentioned. For those with 160mph max speedos - my 164 gps was registered with the speedo needle pointing straight down - a long way past the 160mph mark
I also lost my roof gutters at around 160mph - just saw a flicker in the corner of my eye and they were gone. Given that Marham is an operational Tornado airfield and we'd been warned about dropping even a cigarette butt, I wasn't best popular with the Squadron Leader on my return to the pits after that run
Also forgot, 185mph and still accelerating when I had to get on the brakes sharpish at Bruntingthorpe in a 993 turbo S (not mine ) with Don Palmer alongside.

Gps measured 178mph on my modded ZX7r on a particular motorway after having a play with a 911.He thought he was quick as he passed me at a ton till I dropped it down a few cogs and disappeared into the distance as qucikly as he caught me up. Reckon it might have gone about another 10mph as I was ringing it's neck before I had to slow to leave the motorway.
In a car somewhere around 140 in an old 309gti 1.9 Mi16
To be honest I don't care much for max speed run these days as I very very rarely go above a ton,or have a chance to,but for me it's all about how quick it gets there now.

189mph (well as close as it looked!) Coming back from Lemans in 2003 in my 4.2 Cerbera ( AJP 'Red Rose' conversion pushing about 460bhp) [GPS reading 180]
181mph - Porsche Carerra 4 - also returning from Lemans in 2004 [GPS reading 177]
166mph Honda VFR750 , on way to Zwolle [germany] (VFR owners meeting) (with a one off Injection system, devil straigh through exhaust, rebored and honed to 819cc) [NO GPS]
155mph in a UK imprezza turbo my99 :-) [no GPS]

[quote=Spec'c'57;8982050]Cant beat a decent Toll road on return from Le Mans eh.
Lemans is a great event for blowing the cobwebs out although the police seem to be getting a bit heavier now..
Last year a friend in his bugeye got caught on a speedtrap out near Alencon registered him at 103mph ( he was actually going quite a bit faster), they marched him to the cashpoint and took 350€ of him
