I actually see the word Pikie as a derogatory racist word, and it should have no place on a public forum, but thats just me.
The people who run this site obviously dont agree.
Many people on here like to steriotype all Gypsies/travellers with the same brush....thieves, dodgy roofers/housebreakers/tarmacers/car thieves, heather pedallers, untrustworthy, etc, well believe me all of them are not, and most are far from it.
I too have been burgled, stolen from, attacked, shot at, beaten, car damaged, property damaged...but never by a Gypsy.
I have been gasses by a gypsy though, not nice.
Nearly all the gypsies Ive had any dealings with have been straight, honest, hard working, accomodating, trustworthy people.
With strong family values, they stick together, standing for each other and work well as a team, they all muck in when one of their own needs help and thats how it should be.
Ive said it before but I will say it again, you will never find a Gypsie putting their elderly parents in a home to rot, they look after them until they die.
If they have a dispute, they sort it out, they fight amongs themselves, yet drink/work together straight after the event.
They are hard a ****, and take no ****....
They are my kind of people.
I firmly believe that when one of these gypsie hatred threads arise, half the people who post their horror stories have never met a true gypsie......
I fully understand that if you have been crossed by a "gypsie" then you will have a gripe, but I believe half the time its not a Gypsie at all.
Its like hating everybody who is Welsh, because they talk Welsh and the guy who broke your nose or stole your dustcaps spoke Welsh......for some posters its a blinkered/racist outlook on life, and the only loser is you.

There is a world of difference between a true Romany Gipsy and the types that people are complaining about in this thread Yoza.
When I was a lad we had a bunch of dropouts from society living on some waste land out in the sticks a bit. They were totally untrustworthy and anything was fair game for their theiving fingers. They made a terrible mess and you could smell them from a distance. We were warned to avoid them.
They were known as "Diddicoys or Didicoys". They were largely of mixed blood and claimed some Romany in them but were a race apart from the true Gipsy who was a proud person and was respected in the community.
You cannot blame people for their attitude to the Diddicoy types though with their grossly anti social behavior and it seems that not much has changed from those days apart from the fact that they can fiddle far more benefits etc. now. They seem to go out of their way to upset people in any way that they can. No one minds those who are prepared to respect the rules of society of course.

ive met a few gypseys even lived with one for years if your a "yoza" (no offence ment) type you have nothing to fear and are probably respected
however if your a normal man/woman in the street type and they can make money from you they probably will
the ones ive met who have big new 4x4s have all got a scam running somewere

A load of pikies turned up at our green last year. I walked my dog late the night before, say around 11pm, and there werent any pikies about, green was empty.
I left for work the next day at 6am, and drove past the green, and a whole 8loody family of them, caravans, transits, even 2 pens for 4 geese, had already been set up. The geese pen was already fenced with poles / metal, gas bottles out, aerials up, the whole lot, all done within a few hours.
Took the council 3 weeks to move them on, and in that time nearly every garden set, ornament, LED light had been robbed from every garden within a 5 mile radius ! When they left, the green was in a pityful state and, if honest, has never looked the same. They had a team of the kids going into our local Sainsburys on shoplifting squads, robbing tons of stuff.
So, regardless if they are good people, and stick together, they dont do themselves any favours and on the how, society hates them due to the mess, stealing and general problems they cause.

In Cardiff, the council got fed up of moving the pikeys off of private land all the time, so had the great idea to build them a dedicated site with shower blocks, toilets etc... and moved them all on there.
Within a month the pikeys had moved on, stripped all the plumbing fixtures and pipework out of the place and left a bill of thousands to clear up all the rubbish they had left there.
While I'm sure there are honest hard working travelling folk out there, pikeys are not the same - they are thieves and scammers and would sell their own children if they thought there was a few quid in it.
They know the police cant do anything as none of them have any proof of who they are, and they move from one town to the next so often they are impossible to track down and prosecute.

Cant find any evidence of Fred Barras or Brendon Fearon being Gypsies.
Fred Barras was a 16 years old burglar who was apparently shot in the back and killed after trying to flee bleak house after breaking in.
He was a serial criminal from a criminal family, infact not long after he was buried his father got caught robbing and did a 12 stretch.

When the pikeys settled near Cramond in Edinburgh, the local yobs went down and fire bombed two of their caravans and set about the their motors and the pikeys themselves, they were gone by the time I passed on my way to work in the morning, all that was left was two burned out caravans and a load of rubbish, they have never returned as far as I know
