Went down to see the car yesterday and to my relief the fault was traced to a failed oil pump. The pump was a brand new RCM pump for the previous rebuild, however it was damaged by some swarf/metallic particles from the previous failed engine. The hardened coating on the components within the pump was damaged causing a loss in oil pressure to the bearing. The mechanic put his hands up to it and said it was due to contaminants and showed me the wrecked pump. He then showed me the new boxed parts bought ready for the rebuild, including new RCM oil pump, ACL bearings and STI 8 crank, the pistons are to be reused as they were not damaged. The heads have been stripped and chemically cleaned and the hydrolic tappets have been sent away to be cleaned and refurbed to make sure there are no contaminants in them. The car should be ready in approx 2 weeks. Hopefully this will be the end to my nightmare! Thanks everybody for the advice and support.

Glad to hear that they have identified the cause of the failure Taylor
It is good that they are standing by their previous repair and warranting it.
Never mind though at least you know how to run an engine in now.
Hope to see you at a meet soon.

Cheers Ty. I'm a pro at running engines in now, had plenty of experience! My name's down for the october meet and hopefully the car will be in attendance too.

Try to make the next meet - if your car is still off the road get Jarvis to pick you up I am sure he would not charge too much for petrol , or if it is raining give me a ring and I will come down and give you a lift.
My little purchase did come out of the blue for me as well - I was thinking do I carry on throwing money at the Hawkeye or do I get something already mental enough for the moment.
So I decided 'sod it' and went for the S202 which quite frankly is bonkers on the acceleration, handling is spot on and is quite rare to boot.
Have a try at the next meet (but make sure you know who does not grab the keys from you).
