Harvey,
Many thanks for the prompt and detailed response!
The high IAT's were noticed on a RR day at an Aberdeen based RR which is known for having a good fan and cooling. It was a scorcher of a day but still the IC just didn't seem up to the job. I'm actually going back for another day in a couple of weeks so will be able to see the difference that some cooler air makes!
The graphs from that day are:
The middle pic shows the IAT graph which was taken by the guys running the road using a drop in temp sensor through a port on the inlet manifold. I am now taking IAT's from the same place and am just waiting to make the electrical connections for the readout.
Your comments on the GT vs GT2 are noted. Clearly something else is afoot. Oddly enough though, a fellow wagon owner running 514bhp had almost exactly the same IAT results on his car only few weeks earlier at the same RR and whilst running a GT too. We both wondered if it was the coolers themselves that were the issue.
Any thoughts?
Cheers
James

James : While the GT2 will perform a bit better than the GT it is marginal. There was the original bar and plate before the GT Tube and Fin. Is it possible you are using the bar and plate from quite a few years ago?
Even on track during the Summer and flat out the ACTs I can achieve rarely get to 40 deg.C. even with ambients in the 25-27 area. This is on the GT core which is tube and fin as I have not yet fitted the GT2 to that particular vehicle and these cores only became available late July and we had the first production batch to leave China. These were given to us for specific testing. The difference between the GT and GT2 in terms of temperature performance are so small that it does not warrant a change. The main difference is the fit of the pipes. The core is basically the same but with different end tanks and slightly different feed spiggots.

The Hybrid GDB kit comes with a cold air kit but not the filter. The cold air kit runs in to the inner wing and you then have to find the largest filter you can that will fit within the inner wing. Until recently I have been using a K+N offset cone but I have now found an efficient Ripspeed/Halfords filter of a novel design that will pass more air.
For applications much above 400 bhp I would ditch the CAK in any case and fit the largest cone I could get in the space available. There are numerous cars out there with air filters that are far too small.

Here is a selection of flange adaptors. The basic flange adaptor is plain aluminium. The latest design of flange adaptor is manufactured on CNC machinery from solid billet and is a work of art. The coloured flange adaptors have been anodised and dyed.
Basic flange adaptor is £26.50 and of use to those with MY99-00 and M/Y 01-05.

Gus : The GDB kit is complete and has a cold air kit but not the filter. I can add the filter to the kit. Add £40 for a good quality filter that can pass a lot of air. Other than that you have the BOV to relocate. If you wish to reuse the O/E BOV currently bolted to your TMIC then you need a flange adaptor. Lightweight aluminium work of art £26.50 supplied at the same time as the kit. Other than that you should need nothing just the filter and flange adaptor not forming part of the main Hybrid GDB kit.
Alternatively, let us fit it for you for a fixed £185 fitting fee inclusive of any sundry items. So £350 + £40 + £26.50 and overnight delivery of £12.50 or save the £12.50 and let us fit, same day for £185.

Hi Kristofer, do you refer to Jan from Vasternorrland? Please pass on my very best wishes and I hope all is well with him.
I have sent you a quotation which should be on your email now and we can have a kit away to you tomorrow if you wish.
No problem with your English. I wish I could speak Swedish. All those girls and the dark nights.

Thank you Kristofer. Kind words. Even with the difficulties with the carrier in Sweden, shipped Monday and with you Friday. Have you had much snow this year yet?
If you need help with fitment just let us know.
Amazing where these things end up, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and almost every country across Europe and as far away as Madeira, Ethiopia, Kenya, South Africa, India, Turkey, Middle East, Greece and Slovenia.

Heavy rain here Kristofer so much so there is flooding and you may have heard of the poor people to the West of here who have had substantial flooding, loss of life and millions of pounds of property damage. Cumbria and Workington/Cockermouth. We had the International Karting Track booked at Teesside and when we arrived at 08:30 this morning it was decided to cancel as the track was flooded.
Generally, in the UK we don't get a lot of snow. Perhaps from the South of Central Scotland to the English Channel there are only a few days, three or four with snow in a year but when it happens the whole country is paralysed because some numpties see the white stuff and panic. Here we don't have any snow chains or anything like that or Winter tyres just the same tyres all the year round.
A little tip to you. The two pipes that run in to and out of the core. It is worthwhile applying a coating of "Stone Chip" or some underseal product or similar. This comes in an aerosol can to prevent stone chip damage on the underside. Apply a couple of coats to the two pipes where they leave the silicon joiner for about 500mm or whatever distance is suitable so that they are not subject to damage from the weather and ice and grit as it is thrown up from the road.
