I don't wish to be rude, but if you're fortunate enough to have found a dealer who takes this 'as long as you bring it back to us' attitude, might I suggest that it's not the most sensible thing in the world to name them here.

Whilst I would agree that, IMHO, IM are just trying to clamp down on warranty work (see the 'sales 45% down' thread), it's common knowledge that both IM and Prodrive lurk on the BBS. So you're not going to do anyone any favours in the long term.

OK, rant mode on:

You'd think if IM were lurking on here they'd be more in tune with their customers, instead of taking every opportunity to p155 them off

Unless of course they're lurking just so they can have even more of a laugh at our expense

Anyway, if you're out there IM, here's a few suggestions:

1. Open you arms to servicing & supplying parts for imported cars, just like Mitsubishi have.

2. Make your performance parts more competitive price wise, and make it easier to get information on them. Your website is awful and your dealers know bugger all about what's available.

3. Consider accepting certain 'tried & tested' after-market items as 'warranty friendly'. After all, many of your own dealers supply and fit after-market exhausts - or at least they used to.

4. Honour you warranty as per the warranty statement.

This way you will have lots of happy customers, who will come back and spend more money with you and your dealers.

Alternatively:

1. More and more people will go down the import route.

2. More and more people will go to independent garages (and EC law will soon allow them to do this and preserve warranty, with some restrictions).

3. They'll be more and more customers disgruntled over warranty issues, more adverse publicity.

Someone should wake up and smell the coffee.

BTW, my sole reason for buying a UK car was the service I would get (I'll never believe another JD Power survey). Quite honestly, I would have been better to have imported, shoved the £4K saving in the building society and never gone near a Subaru dealer.

Just MHO!

Tim
PS I know Prodrive lurk on here, but they do provide valuable assistance and advice where appropriate e.g. when I had problems with a dealer installing PIAA lamps, Mike Wood helped me out big time with technical info.

Tim,

I think you're being optimistic if you think anyone from IM would lurk on Scoobynet in order to improve customer relations. I'm afraid that at the end of the day IM, or any manufacturer, are like any insurance company. Their sole aim is to avoid paying out. That might be a rather cynical view, but it's a fact of life.

Without going into detail, I'm aware of a couple of warranty related disputes resulting of information posted here.

If we are not covered by any warranty due to any mods, there is little point in geting our cars serviced at a main dealer.

please could someone post all good (no main dealer)service centres?

Change ya dealer, simple!

I have a warranty claim going through a.t.m., i asked about fittinga HKS exhaust and filter, they said " wait til we`ve sorted this warrranty claim out (its a biggie and IM may have to come out and inspect the car) and then fit whatever you want.... my eye sights getting worse as i get older "....
