They do look awesome mate. Well impressed.

You may have problems with the 40 pro tyre though if you wanna bring it super close to the floor. I swapped mine for the 35's in the end. And still had to hammer out the inside of my arch. Plus rolling them.

But they suit the bug eye seriously well.

the tyres are stretched on the rim , they are safe and are more for looks than track hard driving , they are a big thing in the states and its becoming big over here , the vdub guys have beendoing it for years .

lol

The hardest thing that anyone who is soon to be running aggressive will encounter is the amount of people that are unaware about it. It's **** all to do with VeeDubs.

I'm not fussed about not being able to boot it on these wheels. I've still got the old ones

I've been looking at this setup for about a year and well researched. I know what tyre size i can run even what the best brand is with the softest side wall for ease of stretching. I haven't just gone ahead and ordered them.

I will be doing the right mods so i don't get any issues.

Do the arches have to be rolled? silly question probably but im looking at spacing my wheels out slightly for same look but didnt know about the arches

Also is that front splitter just for the prodrive bumper or can you get them for normal bug front bumpers?

Cheers

My arches are going to be rolled yes. I have slight rubbing at the moment so for a few quid will save the tyres.

I couldn't confirm about the splitter. HT Auto's do a sticky out splitter

Oh well, never mind.

Yeah, I've noticed. I've been lurking on there quite a bit in the past, "don't take prisoners" is right, some folk get a right grilling!

It's not in the main forums really, but one of the regional ones.

Even then I notice he opened the thread with:

"I'm starting our own thread here so we wont get disturbed by mods or haters. crew members r welcome to post up pics of ur cars with wrong fitment!"

I'm not a fan of stretching tyres but I do like the look I think it looks great.... you may need some flaps now in our climate or you will end up with muck all up the sides of the car.

You can give it some but i'm comparing to how i drive on my other wheels. They get driven very hard. It take minutes to change the wheels so i'm happy to change if i have a planned blast coming up.

it does look cool and I've always thought that VeeDubs (I know you said nowt to do with VeeDubs but I've see wrong\aggressive offset on that marque for years and only recently on anything else...), looked good but as it's form over function it seems a bit of a backward step for this type of car so not for me

Looks great, not really useable.... I went for 215 tyres on an 8" rim to save money years ago, and everything damaged them....

Flat Crest = jump = rim damage
5mm ridge in car park = rim damage
Parking near any kerb = rim damage

And that was being careful....

But good luck anyway !

i found this on another forum thought it was funny

I know a ton of you haters on here were making fun of stretched tyres. A lot of you said stuff like "Its just for looks", and "It's dangerous; not within the recommended manufacturer specs."

SO I give you you guys a present, validating your thoughts, and reinforcing your fail-safe il-logic.

This is me, first time out on the track in the RX7. 17x9.5 +2 in the front with 235/40/17. 18x10.5 +0 in the rear with 245/40/18.

If my tyres did not rip off the rims doing **** like this, how the **** are you guys going to tell me it is still unsafe and hazardous to run streched tyres. Under normal driving conditions, too!!!

Hate on it all you want b/c you can't understand it, but i must be doing something right, if anyone cares to expand their thinking.
