Gav, sometimes used in tackle identification, also gives a good impact on fresh referees. Career ending tackles are an unfortunate part of our game, our job is to identify, possibly prevent and deal with such - it is difficult.
I have witnessed as an AR on a local level a tackle that has ended a player's career, I hope never to see one ever again.
No, they're not nice, but shouldn't be ignored, they are the dark side of our beautiful game and IMHO, players who cause injury in such a manner and in a deliberate way should not be allowed to play again.

Anyone deliberatley injuring someone else should be banned for life, that we most certainly agree on

For referees etc to look at then fine but i just don't get why anyone else would want to look? I know it goes on in every sport, i've seen a fair few injuries myself having played sport all my life. Still makes me cringe seeing one though The first one i can recall was David Busst, until then I never realised the dangers of the game but it changed my thinking forever.

Busst's injury was also the first one I was aware of too back in the day.
However, it foxes me as to why teams would continue supporting and paying for players who did such things, but then you think, wouldn't you rather (depsite all the contraversy caused) have them on your team and risking injury to other team's players than your own?
The FA/FIFA/UEFA, whoever should be taking these players out of the circuit and permanently.
