got to agree whole heartedly with both shaun and davy on this one. It really is immature and ridiculous that a thread inviting anyone to a meet is removed because it doesnt emulate from scoobyireland. So much for the mcrae run involving all local people. Seems locals who dont follow the line there are outcast. Tho personally i can understand where your thoughts on the mods deleting the thread came from davy. Two of them are definately power hungry and one is left in an awkward situation! Am interested to see if any of the mods have a care to attend since certain ones would be very friendly with some now on here. At least an open invitation was issued with no intention to exclude anyone, pity other forums couldnt act in the same adult, mature manner to include all local enthusiasts! If it doesnt suit the inner circle its deleted! An interesting question would be how much discussion took place on the mods board about the audacity to try to invite si members to another sites meet and why they seem so worried about members making their owns minds up on issues! Although as has been stated before, leave your own thoughts etc at the door on entering!

Personally I don tthink the topic was removed due to content...but merely due to the way it was posted...."A request from Ulsterscooby".....

Why was this added to the thread title? To stir things up and garner a reaction methinks?

I have no problem in attending meets on SI or SN.....I still use both sites frequently though to be honest I am somewhat embarrassed that most of the threads in this section are about issues with SI? If you feel that SI isnt providing what you require from a local online Subaru site, then surely this forum is one that should be embraced and used for your own ideas of what should be happening locally? Not just to complain about another site............

The post stating "what happens on SI now?" and belittles the efforts made by a lot of members is somewhat childish in my opinion...+for example in the last 2 weeks on SN, (this section) there have been 5 threads.....with 74 replies and 1234 views.....with 64 of these replies about SI, and 900 views about the SI related threads.....in comparison to the 2 actual scoob related threads ( which include an invite to a SI event) which received 10 replies and 334 views....to me thats absolutely shameful

.I dont post on here that often anymore as IMHO theres nothing to be gained in this section of SN...and no doubt these comments will be ridicules somewhat by people who have never met me.....but hopefully those who do know me will realise that I doo take both sites seriously and try and encourage support on both....

I dont have any problems with members of either site, though some assume I have to due to my mod status on SI ? Pretty damn frustrating tbh.........

How did the way I posted the thread with the title "on behalf of Ulsterscooby" offend anyone. There was an open invitation posted on here and I posted it on SI to extend the invite to those on there who are still good friends of Rabs but dont visit this site.

Just a query then SI members...
could the thread title not of been edited to remove what was deemed offensive??
Never seen the thread so cant say i knew what all was stated just the fact it was removed.

J yes maturity should be forthright from all sections but as you well know there was a lack of it and reasoning factored into my removal from Si and yes there are lingering issues from it.
But the maturity you refer to seems amiss with some of the moderation in use these days. I mean for example you i'm sure were disappointed by the departure of performance subaru and its a bad reflection on the site that a moderator was a driving force behind that and sad to see the loss of a valued member.
Scott i didnt include you in my reference earlier as you were the one in an awkward position, but after the episode last year it should of been prudent to assemble a fresh team as some of the escapades and reactions were out of all proportion to the incident. was nice to hear from jason that he hadnt been kept informed of the simmering issues after he set the ball rolling.
as ive stated before its sad to see the sites bickering as a local collective is for the betterment of all enthusiasts but seems some members suffer "personal moderators" and I was castigated for this during my tenure.
There have been gulfs created and some may of been hitting the self destruct button but it should all of been nipped in the bud before it went this far and handled better so people didnt feel alienated from the site or the "them and us" perception arise.

this is the problem though Scott. Si members now refuse to post here for fear of being viewed as an outsider on SI. To me thats the wrong sentiment. Yes all here are local subaru enthusiasts but just some dont get the leeway on Si that others do. Ive heard on a member that openly admits to stirring and spamming, how is that constructive??? there are several issues needing ironed out with several people and keystrokes wont solve that.

You putting your name on the list then Scott?? maybe Si members wil follow suit....eg mr fabio!!!

does somebody or everybody need a hug ???

Lets get everybody together on the Copeland Islands and do a Battle Royale style thing and whoever is still alive at the end wins and then they shall be deemed to have been right and that will be the end of it.

Know where you are coming from.....however.............

When the people doing the stirring are only posting on the site for that reason and to get a reaction, and to effect the site negatively ( and lets be honest they know they are doing it) then they stand back and act completely innocent...there is a big difference between them and a well known and respected site member who turns up at events, supports the site and who by his own admission stirs things up in a non offensive manner.....

Certain members were afforded a VAST amount of leeway for this sort of behaviour...and I wont mention names as the member concerned would not appreciate being dragged into this conversation........

It comes down to basically knowing people, and the only way to know them and to know how to deal with them is to meet them, get to know them, chat to them and see what makes em tick so to speak...I have a lot of friends on SI ( and quite a few now posting on SN )...some of my actions as a moderator will not be appreciated, but I know that I can bump into any member of either site and not have to hide my face, as anything I need to say is either by PM, phone or if suitable posted on the forum........

Stirring is human nature...some call it playing devils advocate...opinions are like arseholes, everyones got em, and not necessarily the same ones...but there has to be a line all be it blurred at times, and most "normal" people know whats acceptable and whats not....certain people just enjoy pushing the limits at times....

At the end of the day its a website...a computer based forum full of keyboard warriors.....why get so worked up over what either site says or does?

It says certain members,if your not in the "gang" mate you don't get any leeway.Good to see Brocks is finally admitting to moderating with double standards.

Also the other SI mods appear to be more than happy to sit back and let Scott put the sites point across.Suppose if it backfires boys you can all stand back with the Teflon suits on.Atleast Scott posts it up here and on SI what he has to say and doesn't do it behind backs, this is something I commend him for.As he says we all have our own opinions such is life.Believe it or not I have no problem with him,he's upfront and honest from what I see it's the other silent assasins,is it a case of they load the bullets and leave Brocks to pull the trigger.

The member given the vast amount of leeway was myself
I wasnt banned for having poppies in my sig ( as a mod ) but I was told off
I was told that the pictures of the cross community bonfire we organised this year were secterian it was a big fairytale castle

but I think the final straw was when I posted screwdriver singing the voice of britain as my favourite song ( which it actually is )

At the end of the day im well finished with SI ( not the friends ive made on it ) but I am finished with the website ( no great loss some will say ) and im really finished with the 2 faced pr**ks I used to think of as friends.

Truth be told Scott is the only one moderating on that site the others are just dead weight who love their wee power trip.

Every open forum is going to have issues it got to the stage where everything i posted was expected to be deleted but others posting very similar things were allowed to.

I even set up an account ( from a cloaked ip address ) as a paki and when I complained about racist posts I was told to get a sense of humour and then infracted for posting up pro paki slogans. they only realised it was me when I didnt hide my ip.

itsmeegwen f**k ur sel lol

is this to say that all members are not respected members???????
surely all people have different levels of what they find offensive??!!
I know myself and rab were VERY regular attenders of events and supported the site more than some, so do we gain respect to stir in a manner we find in-offensive?
I know for a fact several members who find the self styled spammer/stirrer to be offensive as he tries to make light of comments they have made or hijack threads. if theres a line that cant be crossed then its a straight line there for all not one that can be bent for the benefit for some in the clique!!

so there are racist sympathisers in the si moderating team???
imagine the si moderators telling people to get a sense of humour!!
surely racist concerns should of been taken seriously.

George Orwells Animal farm......everybody's equal but some are more equal than others (apologies if I have somewhat *******ised the quote)

There has to be a degree of flexibilty on forums..as is natural in life.....theres a big difference between me and a close friend having a laugh at each other on a post hosted by either one of us....and 2 people who arent known posting on a 3rd persons post in a negative manner, trying to stir, being offensive or otherwise negative...thats just plainly obvious.....

As for the site being racist.....well I for one still laugh at Paddy the Englishman/Scotchman/Irishman jokes ..........so technically I'm racist

But gain there is an inherent difference between this and blantantly obvious racism....as I have posted previously, we cant remove all threads "just in case" its found offensive...but if a thread is reported it SHOULD be removed immediately...and thats where the line has been crossed IMHO....threads have been removed prior to being reported in case a member is offended....sometimes quite rightly IMHO...sometimes wrongly...some threads have also been reinstated after discussion too

No ones going to agree over these issues...joys of having human moderators instead of automated systems..personal standards are applied.....and some peoples standards are quite noticeably different to others.........

Analysing individual posts out of context, chinese whispers, stirring, spamming, and the like doesnt help anyone just fuels the fire...why bother?

now now scott, no need to throw the toys out of the pram lol. Ive know u long enough to know uve a sense of humour but it gets repetitive to see some blatently get away with what others are pulled for. U know full well we all used to have good banter etc at meets and via numerous other mediums. Its just funny how when i was accused of over moderating the ranks closed behind my back but now others do it and appear to show personal issues with members but its brushed under the carpet! I enjoy a good joke and laugh as u know but if going down the line of equality, as u know full well, it needs to be a clear line with no blurring! Ive said to Jim before i could go on Si and probably report a multitude of posts for breach of the rules, but why wud i need to. But contrary to this threads by the less involved but equally as important are deleted. Like i say has the sn invite been reposted by the admin team editing the title to exclude reference to Rob? Surely thats the easy fix. As davy says at least your posting here not hiding away. And the offer still stands that pete put to ya lol.
