That's why they should be re-mapped/ecu'd for UK fuel use as per most of the thread replies.

Exactly......

Or atleast try run with 99RON with a touch of Octane Boost for extra safety

I'm aware of the problems running iffy fuel, i was wondering if v power would give the same problems.
I've had my RA mapped, with the ESL live ecu, for v-power, and did see an improved fuel economy, even with the increased boost/power.
I'm now running 335bhp, and find it returns better mpg than when it was standard, as long as i'm not going crazy!
Trouble is the 98 car can't use this ecu, so the cheapest alternative is the Apexi PFC, which comes in at £7-800 mark mapped, a lot!
I have a mate who does mapping, so will fill it with v-power, and get him to fit his det cans and wideband to see how it's running.
As a side note, i remember reading a right up on fuel tests, they used 3 cars, a Fiesta, Clio sport and STi Impreza. The STi gave 6bhp more, and the tester did report an increase in mpg.
Blue dragoon, i remember your Forester STi, absolutely awesome car! Just wish i had the budget for one
Thanks again for your replies

Doesn't bother me one bit.....safety first. Extra £3.00 per tank?? Worth it in my opinion to be running premium fuel.

Plus- for Impreza's anyway, not really sure how many are running with a Cat....???

octane booster is a waste of money imo.

remember when it says "upto 5 points" on the bottle this means that it will take your 97ron fuel from 97.1 to 97.5ron

not 102ron
