A great track day was had yesterday with some brilliant tuition from Duncan...
But, My 20G decided to smash itself to bits and exit through the exhaust
On the plus side, Many thanks to Harvey for sorting me a new 20G at such short notice
It will be up and running again by Tuesday.
Some piccys of the day...

As promised, Harvey's 20G arrived this morning and i quickly fitted it to my car...
I'm having it mapped by Duncan tomorrow , But even on the drive home from work it feels like an absolute gem of a turbo. Loads of torque and early spool
My old 20G was looking in bit of a sorry state when i removed it...
I must just say a massive thanks to Harvey for the quality of service and advice that I've received from him in the past two weeks
Examples...
Phone calls always answered
When he says he will call back, He does
Communicaton (phone/email) is superb
Parts arrive when promised
Exellent aftersales service
There are a few suppliers on here than can learn a lot from the way that Harvey conducts his business.
Bring on the map tomorrow, I can't wait

How unexpected Jon. I am flattered. What can I say. Thank you.
I like to wrap the tubular headers in individual runners as far as possible until the collector and it is laborious. I only use DEI heat wrap because although it is relatively expensive (£55 per roll) it does a good job and applied properly it lasts for years.
The DEI wrap has stitching down each side and this acts as a guide for overlap so there is less risk of missing a small section but at the same time the possibility of over wrap is greatly reduced so at the end of the day I guess it is cost effective.
Having tested the thermal qualities I have not come across anything that is noticably better.
Here is the uppipe on your car which is supplied with the GT2 Spec I sent to you. This is how these headers come with this uppipe.
Here is my alternative performance uppipe. You have done me a favour with this unexpected mention on the turbos, headers, service etc. so I would like to reciprocate. I am sending one of my special 3 bolt uppipes and I would like you to put it on your car for back to back comparison against the GT2 supplied with the headers. I know what the outcome will be. Give us your honest feedback, good or bad on here.
Because of the early spool you will have to get Duncan to tweek your map.
It will be with you Friday.
Enjoy.

Well done Harvey.
Well car was mapped today by me on the dyno at zen.
It will be a good comparison to do a back to back on it. The spool could be improved and i think that will be a significant benefit.
Be interesting to do a back to back on your hybrid fmic as the tmic held it back today on the dyno....

Jon : I am ready to send this but you have the option with a boss per the one you already have or without a boss. I suspect you want it without a boss as you probably have removed the sensor. Please let me know asap.
As regards Hybrid GT2 v STi 8 TMIC, here is what I found when I actually did a back to back comparison. This was on an older Hybrid GT and not GT2 but the results would be similar.
On Steve Simpson's DynoDynamics rollers at TEG Sport we had 392 bhp on my STi 3 Wagon, standard pistons, one of my hybridised turbos, STi 8 TMIC, under tray and bonnet scoop. Note. You have to fit the STi 8 scoop and under tray for the TMIC if you are going to get half decent results. Ambient was about 3-5 degrees C and ACTs at the end of the run were 43 C.
I returned to Darlington, fitted the Hybrid GT and went back to TEG. I already knew I had more power as AFRs were weaker, noticably in places. Ambient was around 8 C, so warmer and we immediately produced 401 bhp after warming up but with no changes other than the Hybrid GT FMIC. Mapping with more fuel, I knew there was more power and some additional timing and we came off the rollers at 410 bhp. ACTs 23 deg.C.
It will be interesting to see how your results compare.
In a technical document I read that the rule of thumb was 1 % additional power per 4 Degrees reduced ACT. On that basis I could have been looking at 5% power or 20 bhp almost so 18 bhp was pretty close to the rule of thumb. On other comparisons I have found the rule of thumb to be fairly accurate so logging your ACTs will be of great interest.
The same car has run regularly at Scooby Clinic with Pat Herborn in attendance while gathering other data and it is now running 400 bhp on V-Power plus NF, 413.5 with water / methanol injection switched on and 422 bhp with V-Power plus 8.5% Toluene and 8.5% methanol. Still on standard pistons etc.

I am very much looking forward to finding out
I had a customer who was concerned about his headers blowing and losing power. I immediately ordered a set of Harveys headers complete with DEI heat wrap. As per usual they arrived next day and i fitted them today
The pictures below are the headers i removed from my customers car.
I'm guessing these were some E-Bay specials. It certainly shows that there is some real crap products being sold out there! I still can't believe just how poor quality they are in comparasion to Harveys product. My cup of tea weighed more than they did

Received your custom up-pipe today.
I'm not sure whether to fit it or hang it on the wall and admire it. Your DEI heat wrapping is a work of art
I'll be back up at Zen early next month and will post the before and after dyno graphs on here. Although i have a feeling that after Duncan has mapped it the results will be very very good with this fitted
Thanks again Harvey

Unfinished/half painted HT Autos reverse scoop fitted. Not sure whether to leave it matt black or paint it red and camo wrap it???
I won a pair of Sparco seats on fleabay for not very much money. These are properly awesome on track and are way more comfortable that the standard item
Thanks to Duncan for the seat runners

Apart from Duncan & Harvey I've had some truly awful service from some of the suppliers on SN and elsewhere. But I'm pleased to say that after speaking to Anthony Rickson @ Phormula my faith has been restored. I ordered a KS-3 knock analyser from him yesterday and quickly received tracking details via email. Low and behold it turned up as promised today and was quickly fitted
Quality bit of kit and outstanding service
Why other suppliers can't be arsed to either pick up the phone or at least return calls is beyond me

Phormula Knock Analyser is a useful piece of kit not just for Knock detection but it can tell you how noisy the engine is, indicate resonance spots in the engine and also give an indication to how good a particular fuel might be so I find them very useful and Phormula have been very helpful.
Poor service ? Simple answer is to find another supplier. In this day and age there is no room for complacency and I try to deal with everyone as I would want to be dealt with myself.

After my car being off the road for the last few weeks due to various problems, But mainly the turbo inlet pipe being a little bit worn...
I managed to source a new Samco item (I did call a well known supplier on here, But I was ignored as usual At least he's consistent!) and fitted it asap...
Had the Phormula knock analyser set up and the car mapped to absolute perfection by Duncan today, Brilliant service as always and worth every penny
Will get some dyno figures asap to show the before and after gains of fitting Harveys hybrid up-pipe & FMIC, But early indications show the gains will be very impressive indeed

Indeed Jon - I was amazed by the difference in airflow measurements alone from the day we dynod it in april at 352bhp it was over 40 grams/sec up in airflow !
Maybe some of this could be down to the tear in the inlet pipe (if it was there then although I couldnt see symptoms of it)
Felt quick mate.
As usual, great to see you

I'm still 100% happy with the work that http://www.chapplesigns.co.uk/ did for me. The cost was 1K, Although that was “mates rates” and I'm carrying their logos on the car.
Iirc it took 2 days to do and is worth every penny It also stops a lot of stone chip damage when on track.
A few people are saying that camo is soo last year, But if it's what you want then go for it. Who cares what other people say

Very cool mate, I'm well tempted after seeing that. I've been pretty handy with thee ole spray cans lately having done my whole interior in matt black, thread coming soon.
Did you use halfords black satin or the hammerite stuff? And dud you sand/primer first?

I look forward to your thread
I just grabbed a can of grey metallic from the shelf and got on with it. I think hammerite may be a bit thick and clogg the fins (I'm no expert) hence the standard spray paint.
Ref cleaning the I/C, I used brake cleaner and an airline.
