Pretty much since I bought the car, 5 years ago, its had a slight exhaust blow which I keep meaning to sort. Anyway over the past couple of weeks its started to get worse. I and richgreenscooby1 had diagnosed the up-pipe to be at fault so I set about replacing it!
After much knuckle skinning and elbow bashing the centre section and down pipe bolts were off. I clambers under the car to remove the down pipe and it got caught on something without me realising at first. I pulled it then it suddenly went and clouted me on the head, ouchey ouch

Anyhoos after cleaning myself up I got the up-pipe bolts undone, after skinning my knuckles again
. I undid the d/s engine mount, jacked up the engine and removed the up-pipe. Well I thought I had, I'd actually removed half the up-pipe

This may explain why it was blowing
I'll be fitting the rest back on today, more pics to follow.....

De-cat pipe fitted Yay. Managed to do this without injury
Had to 'modify' it [bend] to get it to fit correctly but all gravy now

Car sounds so much better now! The noise comes from the back and not the front anymore
I fitted my new black wrinkle painted alt cover and turbo heat shield whist i was at it!

Cheers Dan.
I think she may be getting a facelift bumper with a one off splitter and de-badged facelift grille but I've got a house move to deal with first
Cheers fella

Car reached quite a milestone yesterday

Well decided to Facelift the car, seeing as I already have a bumper from the car we're breaking! I know I said I wouldn't but I've changed my mind
Had to remove all the loose paint from the scuff that happened a while back courtesy of my wife's work colleague!

De-javu, I'm sure I've blanked up washer jets before

more to follow......

Ha ha
I still have the car and still use it daily. Runs a treat
Its in pretty much the same state as the last time I updated due to all sorts of other things getting in the way, like moving house etc!!!!
I've owned it for 6 years now and I have a hankering for a bugeye so wether I'll do anymore to this car is unknown atm.

Thank you for your kind words.
The paint isn't too bad, if I'm honest it wasn't the best but it was fantastic for my first attempt imho. I've learnt a lot of 'what does work' and even more 'what doesn't work' on this project and I'll be able to take that knowledge along with me to my next project.
I still have the facelift bumpers and the paint so I may just finish them off and fit them...... we'll see!!

I tend to think of myself not as brave but stupid
On this occasion it paid off!
Car has had a wheel swap (for winter) and I am in the process of de-badging a facelift grille to go with the facelift bumper I started a while back
Pics tomorrow if its not teeming down!
