Well had a pretty poor day today really didnt get much done due to lack of a small grinder grrr so new grinder tomoz and get on with it so hopefully will have a bit more done, need to pick up some sheet metal aswell so that will be fun lol

got the front half of the cage out today so i can get to rebuilding the inner wheel arch and bulkhead a bit easyier also so i can lengthen the legs on the cage safely, heres the pics

I have trimmed the Subaru rear down a bit more now have just got to trim out the shell and make inner arch templates to cross over, hopefully have the backend in by weekend then all the main fabricating work by the following weekend as i move out of my big workshop end of the month
back into my refurbished one at home so thats a bonus

sorry the pics are not much differant to last lot but next few updates should be better also just had a price for full sand blasting and etching and zinc primer for 450 quid major bonus

Your making quite swift progress, keep it up!

Please, though, put round arches on it as per the drawing and not the kit you posted up

Hey Blu-scoob

yes i think that is the best way forward tbh not so keen on the kit as it is a hell of a lot of work also looses the sleeper look i will hopefully be putting a deposit down soon to secure the wheels from a fellow member which are the compo MO 5 hooraa lol so that will be a bonus allthough tyres are a blighter due to such low profile but will be good on track

cheers Alex

I am waiting for some sheet steel to be delivered tomoz got my new grinder now, so just need the metal lol then lots of chopping to the back end including the suspension turrets as they are 4.5 inches too wide to fit in the shell so a bit of fabbing is required lol then i got too take a deep breath for the bill for the seamless roll cage tubing

Cheers Alex

Love Mini's, And Subaru's are ok I suppose.

Great project, and I hope it looks like the drawing, and not like a Mini on stilts..

Managed to get a couple of hours on the car tonight not best pleased with my welder need to play about with the settings a bit to get a better weld, but there is plenty of pennetration so thats not a problem. Just need to clean it up with the grinder so thats ok. bur at least the one side is all done so i can get the other done first thing then get the back end cut out

so heres some pics for you please ignore the shocking welding

I do love my plasma cutter

Well another wasted day took 3 hours to weld one plate due to welder packing up so went to my smaller one that was no good so fixed my first one then it went again not happy so got on and chopped the back end out instead so this is how she currently looks, i have got to remove the turrets and adjust the suspension a bit but shouldnt be a problem

Good work so far, keep the updates coming. Think you'd best add a new welder to the shopping list then

What have you got planned with the rear struts as it appears you don't quite have the room to get them mounted vertically enough? Is it camber bolt time or some fancy F1 style rear suspnsion??

Hey well the idea for the suspension is in the making once i get the rear in the right place i will then be able to correct that with a ingenious solution na no need for camber bolts but the struts will be mounted to the roll cage thats for sure as that is next to go in really also need new rear quarters as they are shot loads of filler in them lol more pics soon

I am awestruck.
The idea just seems so rediculous, but somehow ends up actually working.
Carry on.

You mad bugger! You thought about cutting the mini right down the middle and making it 10" wider? Great work!
