once again freedom of speech is not allowed anymore

Stu how about a list of what can actually be discussed or change the forum policies to include the following to be banned from discussion

Humour (unless Granny approves)
Banter (unless its a mod that starts it)
Poking Fun
Questioning moderation of this forum and its moderators even with a public vote
comedey images (done in jest) (I cant believe one of them even got an infraction point for that, that was pathetic imho)

Why is it the Mods all wade in heavy handed on one thread (yourself included) why not let that one Mod deal with it (or are they not capable on their own)

Can I ask something Stu (if you take me off your ignore list for a minute)

Have you achieved your mission statement with Scoobynet, are IB happy with the way things are going and the increase in revenue, is that your remit here or is it just to run things your own way with complete disregard to certain users ?

The post count has gone down considerably since the watch bully decided to leave. Shame really as it was already pretty quiet in here compared to the good old days.

Here we go again!!

I am going to say it as I see it and be damned with whatever abuse I get.

There are certain people here who genuinely want SN to be a little less moderated and enjoy all the 'fun' that brings. They present their arguments fairly and logically and although they are seen to complain they do so in constructive manner.

However there are also a small minority of posters who are here to simnply stir up trouble and seek attention by constantly sniping at certain other posters, attacking the mod team or just generally moaning about how great SN used to be and how poor it is now. These people positively revel in their own negativity and feed off each other which results in some of the posts we have seen in the last few days.

I just can't understand why these latter posters keep coming back. If you don't like a certain pub you find another one so why is an Internet forum any different.

I don't think Stu and the mod team always get it right and have said so in policy on a couple of occasions, but their job is not an easy one. For instance some of the threads in the last few days have had good and humourous input from many posters including those from the first group I mention above, but then some of the contributions have overstepped the mark and hence the mods are left with a time consuming job of unpicking each thread or the much quicker option of either deleting or locking it.

SN is far from perfect and is obviously different to the place it was 10 or 5 years ago, but just as change is not all good it is not all bad either so why not make the best of it and if the 'new SN' is no longer for you find somewhere else to hang out.

It couldn't be simpler really could it?

Oh and I think we are way past 'needing to own a Scoob' to be allowed to post here btw although I do so there

We're all guilty of overstepping the mark now and then. Using the pub analogy, I think it was LMW who once posted "Would you say what you've just written to someones face down the pub? If not then why post it?"

Well said.

Quite why people who slag the place off come back to abuse other members again and again is one of lifes great mysteries.

The people moaning about the moderation team are the very same people who go running to them when they feel the need to, even to the extreme point of requesting a member get banned - shocking behaviour, I know, but those who complain about the system try to use it to their own ends.

You know who you are .....

I used to post regularly on a motors forum within a computer related forum. I didn't like the way it was going and how the members were behaving and pretty much stopped going there.

Why can't those that don't like SNet do the same? I don't even see why we've had all this handbags **** recently. Theres been many a member in the past that has rubbed people the wrong way and its never got to the point where members have actually stopped coming here because every other post is some pointless jibe at the feds or other members.

The Matteeboy issue is complete boll0x. He wasn't any worse than other members in the "My ***** bigger than yours" in fact he was quite mild compared to some who were involved in his eventual f*cking off.

I'm having a bit of a rant because I like coming here and in particular NSR. I haven't got an Impreza and probably never will have one again but SNet is going beyond that. I actually think introducing more forums would be a good idea because the population of SNet is such that it needs to evolve away from Subaru related forums (and some non related forums for the pedants among us) and include forums that covers the more popular interests of the current times. Having a few extra niche forums would tidy up NSR and probably increase traffic if those niche forums develop a reputation for being informative and worthwhile (without getting cliquey)

I've seen nothing written down that says I have own a Subaru, God forbid, or post in one of the Subaru related forums to be able to post in NSR.

I don't see how. One person has been forced to leave and the post rate seems to have dropped like a stone.

Doesn't seem to have been much fun for everyone.

Can we just get some clarity here EddScott.

Matteeboy wasn't forced to leave, he left of his own volition. He dished it out, ironically or otherwise having a pop at watch owners, chavs, you name it. When it got dished back in good old Scoobynet tradition he didn't like it. In terms of him going, it is less entertaining without him even though, or because, he was a pain in the **** half of the time (although apparently never for his gorgeous wife )

Half the regular members have left in a huff at some point, me included.

Have you achieved your mission statement with Scoobynet, are IB happy with the way things are going and the increase in revenue.
Yes, Everything is running just nicely now thank you. I would still like to make some forum catagory adjustments and improve what I personally feel is a very cluttered for sale section, but otherwise things are not too bad now compared to how they were this time last year.

I can confirm that in 90% of the members cases this is a totally accurate statement.

Well spotted. Being pedantic is a waste of both your time and mine so I will offer nothing more to you than to clarify that I was referring to the fact that most of the people complaining actually do very little else other than complain and pick on people and as such I feel they should maybe find a forum more suited to their passtime than one aimed primarily at Subaru discussion.

But Stu...........this part of the forum IS "Non Scooby related"

Are you now saying that posts in here need, somehow, to be slightly Scooby related?

BTW: sorry to hear of your little'un. Neither of ours went through the night, nay, slept more than three hours at a time, until they were three, and guess what? They were born three years apart, so WE had six years of it.

It DOES get easier, and you're right, the end result is more worth it than not ...............Although there WILL be days you wonder why you had any kids, beleive me

Sorry, no. What I am saying, albeit obviously not with any great clarity, is that most of the regular complainants and trouble makers only seem to complain and pick on people no matter what forum they post in. A quick click on this post history clarifies this. Whilst this may well be NSR, that does not mean its ok to spend teh majority of your time on SN picking on members, causing bad feeling or mod bashing just because neither of those activities is non scooby related. I am simply questioning these individuals motives and worth to the community.

Ouch... that must have been painfull.

Stu, I like to call a spade a spade and certainly do not pick on everyone but the few people I do know who get some grief (albeit light hearted) have themselves to blame ie

Pete... he knows what he is doing and loves the attention / uproar it brings. And as such he takes it in his stride

Matteeboy is clearly different but he pretty much stuck his head through a noose and cried when he hung himself. People on here do not know each other and if you run your mouth off, whether it be slagging off someones choice or stating that yours is better than people are gonna turn on you. If you was in a pub talking to mates about something we all liked and then someone we didnt know turned up and starting giving it large that his choices are better, our choices mean we are chav, that he is bigger, better, faster, stronger etc etc.. then you would just turn round and tell him to get fcuked.

No one has attacked these people on a personal level, only on the way they present themselves.

but locking a thread and calling it pathetic is over the top censorship. People were thrashing out whether the community spirit was breached - not making libellous comments. Life aint pretty sometimes, but if its within the law just let it stand, "policing" it in this manner just adds resentment.

I really enjoyed the forum Mon/Tues this week, great banter, edgy discussion. Agree it has been over moderated, and I don't mind admitting that is the first time I've agreed with the "SN Detractors".

To those who suggest if you don't like it foof off, have you considered that maybe those who take that stance still like the place but just not as much as they did before. Bit like the Impreza eh?

Nobody should mind a bit of friendly banter-all helps to make the world go round, but when it starts to get into something similar to vicious bullying then it is right to stop it.

Sorry Rev, but I don't class the last couple of days as playground bullying. Matteeboy set himself up with his behaviour here, copped some justified, IMHO, flak and has chosen to walk away.

Kids bullied in school rarely deserve it and hardly ever have the chance to walk away from it.
