7 men one fight, all charged with Affray
The video i saw on the news had some bloke hit the footballer, before the footballer started dishing out the pain to the nearest bloke (not the bloke who hit him)
To be honest, if i was having an argument with a bloke and his mate gave me a hook, i would assume that they were both about to jump on my ****, and i would have started windmilling them to feckery
I have not seen any other footage.

BBC NEWS | UK | England | Merseyside | Gerrard cleared after bar brawl
Well, as we all suspected..... Gerrard walks out with his name intact

I don't care about the semantics of assault, self defence blah blah blah..
The guy is hanging around with scum who like to kick off in bars. Do you think Dennis Bergkamp, Thierry Henry or Fernando Torres would ever be involved in anything like this?
The guy is a professional footballer and a role model to lots of children so he should act accordingly, and that includes who he chooses as friends.

So if someone smacked you and you thought they were going to smack you again you would just stand there or would you defend yourself?
that lad didnt smack him though did he.
gerrard hit him first, infact i dont think he it gerrard at all.
if he'd have hit me first and i hadnt provoked him he would have got a size eleven right on the side of his knee.

there must be different cctv clips, the one I seen has gerrard and his mate setting on a bloke who refused to treat him like royalty.
I cant understand how he could possibly get away with it,
what sort of message does it send out to youngsters

He didn't lead with an elbow, his mate did. He then hit the bloke because he feared he was about to be hit himself.
Which is probably all bollocks.
What I saw was a pissed up arsehole footballer acting like a complete ****, assuming he had some god given right to the remote, taking advantage of the elbow his mate gave the guy and then getting off with it because he's got a good lawyer who probably charges more per hour than the prosecution get paid a week and who successfully argued self defence
Many professional footballers are just gutter scum who would be in jail were it not for their ability to pay for the best defence money can buy, oh, and pay off the odd witness.
He was acting like a jumped up ****, got involved in a fight due to an event that he started, and he should have gone down for it. As should anyone who acts like that.

Just got to love good old SN.
"He hit him with his elbow". No, his mate hit him with his elbow.
"Assuming he had a God given right to the remote". No, the club manager told him he could have the remote.
I've not followed this case, at all, but even I know that much from the snippets I've heard. Still, let's not let the facts get in the way shall we?
I hope to God if I'm ever called up in front of a jury, you lot aren't within 1,000,000 miles of it!

Gerrard is a complete *****, he waited for his mate to elbow the guy in the face, once the guy showed signs of being hurt, gerrard steamed in with 3 uppercuts (which did **** all by the look of it).
Typical scousers hunting in packs, picking on weaker prey!
Gerrard should have got fcuked over for that, if it had been a normal person, they would have at least got a suspended sentance!
