your outlook is of a twenty-something that's all; much less thought for the consequences your actions might have. Not knocking you it's a stage we all go through...I'm sure the OP has passed that particular age group and I know Clive has

What you don't realise yet mate is that "what if's" do happen, and they happen a lot more than you realise.

"What if" your 18 yr old daughter was sitting in the back of a car that was being driven by a fukcing pratt showing off thinking he was all that, to the point he lost control and killed his girlfriend.

That particular "what if" has happened in my town TWICE in 18 months, and when one of the Father's is one of YOUR mates you see the full picture, so don't sit there and try to lecture me about "what if's" !

[QUOTE=GC8WRX;8838451]WTF?

Out of my window i see 3 fields and a herd of cows, there isnt a terraced house for at least 2 miles in either direction, and 2 of my mates live on farms, , one of which i can see the roof of as i type this, how is that not the countryside

And i wasnt brought up in "da ghetto", i just hung round with the "estate kids" instead of the snobby ******* that live near me, and im a better person for it, they taught me about a side of life you will probably never know, and its been a real help when dealing with certain situations!

I suggest you unwrap the cotton wool, and go out and experience life a bit!

And I suggest that you perhaps read my post again because you've obviously been spending too much time with the "estate kids" and cannot comprehend the point. I stated that you live in Macclesfield and that you ALSO
live in the countryside. I'm fully aware of what farm animals are thanks.

Whether you're a better person for it is a matter of opinion and others will be the judge of that.

And as for experiencing life i've probably seen and done more things in life than you will ever know sunshine. You know absolutely nothing about me so you're not in a position to comment. It's just that i've grown up and CAN see right from wrong as hopefully you will when you get a bit older although if you are like this at twenty something then I don't hold out much hope...

nothing personal

Having a bit of a play with another motor or giving it a bit of wellie is one thing, but going by the description given of the way both drivers were driving it was far worse than that, and by the sound of it could have resulted in some poor sod being killed because of someone else's dangerous driving, so I think giving the police the information to stop them before someone dies as a result of their antics was the right thing to do, and I for one applaud you for doing so, as for those spouting all this crap about being a grass, your misguided code of honour may not seem so great if someone like this kills a member of your family and the people who could have prevented it said and did nothing because they didn't want to be a grass.

i think that the only people who can truely comment on this are those who have been in the same situation which i would imagine there arent many . we've all given it the beans when we shouldnt have and anyone who has a scoob and says they havent is a fibber ... i would like to think i would do the right thing if faced with the same situation but having never been in that situation i cannot comment , however the threadstarter did what he did because HE thought it was the right thing to do ,some will agree some wont for whatever reasons......the truth is if the idiots that were speeding were caught it could have saved lives and when you get fines/bans or points it makes you think twice and lets face it scooby drivers have a bad rap as it is so anything that can be done to prove to people we are not all idiots all the better i say and respect to you for doing what you think was right if more people do the right thing then the world would be a better place

I guess this comes down to being pretty annoyed at being tarred with the same brush (& as you point out, it's not like we get enough grief already) & sheer bl00dy irresponsiblity/recklessness of driving like an absolute bell end in something weighing a ton & half (sorry newager's ) & capable of 150mph+ ...you wouldn't accept people dicking about with shotguns in public, which could do arguably less damage ...& yet some of us seem to think we can do what the **** we want on the road, that we share with others.

Whether you believe my interpretation of event's is up to you, but i can honestly say that's it's up there in the top 5 'worst driving' displays I've seen, EVER & i've been driving what, 15 years & some 500 000 miles ...add into that, that I've done a few trackdays, regularly Kart in the D90's at Daytona, have my own 100cc Junior Kart & my job at the moment means I'm closely associated to a few motorsports- then you could possibly get a good picture of the pairs driving standard ...god only know's what Joe public thought.

tbh my initial post wasn't meant to really fire up any kind of debate, it was posted on the off chance that the two involved might read it- or that people that know them might have a word in their shell ...I reckon 80-90% of Impreza owners at least know about 'Scoobynet' ...I'm not sure if they know, but they don't appear to have posted on this thread & they certainly haven't pm'd me.

I happen to think 'self policing' is pretty important, if we can't police ourselves & get our own house in order who will? ...plod? the authorities? well, we know how they deal with things- draconian & indescrimently.

I can understand the 'fear' of where do we stop, when it come's to 'grassing' ...but lets face it, these two had already appeared on plod's radar (they were already being tailed) & even if I had put a formal complaint in, what are the BiB's realistically going to do? go round? have a word? ...not exactly a lot apart from pr1ck their conscience? ...so i think you'll be pretty safe overtaking your tractor ...oh, & depending on the tractor/ chevrons, you do realise you're legally allowed to do this anyway?

As for 'proper' clowns on the highway ...I've lost count of the amount of times I've had to report those ******* to the police, they just don't seem to understand/ able to learn that their footware is inappropriate for driving
Thanks for the intelligent response. I don't spend enough time on here to know most of the users, and my reaction could also be based upon trends that I have seen emerging on this discussion board (amongst others).
If a guy came into your local pub bragging about "grassing" on a member of your peer group, you'll begin to understand where I am coming from... If it's someone that you don't know, and seems (I use italics because it's an assumption) to have a personal grievance (i.e. they were pulled instead of the culprits) then one plus one can soon equal five.
You are 100% right about the "shotgun vs. performance car" argument, but let me put this to you; because of our "draconian" law system, guns are now only held by police and criminals. The police do not exactly have a glowing record when it comes to firearm/ baton/ riot-shield usage....
Anyway, when it comes to self-policing, that means that I have to trust your judgement to the same degree as I would an authority figure (policeman, judge, doctor, etc...) otherwise you WILL get Mr & Mrs Busybody causing trouble for ANY minority (sports cars owners included), and being backed up by society, and the judicial system.

If you want respect always show respect! These assclowns have shown us nothing but contempt for others and thier property!

I dont give 2 ****s about what anyone thinks I witnessed a multiple vehicle accident a few years back where 4 people died when a bmw hit a minibus becasue of some ***** driving like idiots.

perhaps if these idots the Op has reported saw the efects it has on real people with real lifes they might think twice.

nice one daz!

fwiw, I know the road (being a local) and have seen some of the feejits on it.
I have three boys and would GRASS any/all of them (after first breaking their legs/knee capping them ) if they were to drive like ***** or if I proved they were in stolen motors
so to grass on some f*cktards doing idiot things and embroiling me in something I had nothing to do with is a formality.
Fair play to you Daz for doing this. as said elsewhere in the thread , its only due to law abiding people turning face that these 'tards think they are untouchable.

Soon , a rain will come...

To all those people who wouldn't have provided info to the police, then bear this in mind should you ever get your car nicked, house burgled or family injured in an accident and none of the witnesses come forward because they don't want to 'grass'! Great policy FFS!

I had a Car nicked off my drive, and one of my neighbours witnessed it... they done nothing and the car got Stripped... lost 3.5K of ICE and a lot more besides that.
The neighbours kids told me she seen it and when asked she said yeh but would not get involved in fear of repercussions...
I was NOT happy and felt like swinging for them...

But who is to say the two scoobs were not nicked and that was the thieves making their getaway... the OP could have just supplied reliable intel...

To which if it was your car that had been nicked you would have been greatfull... I know i would have been.

I have to agree a lot of people do not agree with Grassing for one reason or another... but their needs to be a line, and the OP crossed it at the right time... IMO

He made his choice, he said he can live with it so

I witnessed Someone hit a Parked car and do a lot of Damage, then drive off. my first call was to the police, with his reg no. (Not the first time either)

It may not have been my car, but what if it had been, and i was not their... If i cam back to find it smashed, i would have hoped any witnesses would have reported it.

Each and every one of you who do not like grasses would all be hoping someone reported some one trashing ur car, or hitting it and driving off.

So please respect the Op done what he felt he had to...

it takes more people like the op to create a safer place to live in and all the people on here who said that hes wrong need to wise up!

we have a duty to ourselfs and others to stand up and fight against injustice then and only then can we live in a better society that you can raise kids in.

looking the other way only lets troublemakers get more cocky and enhances social decline.
In my street we have a neighbourhood watch and we all stick together I look out for the elderly around me and they look after my car etc it really works aswell.

I feel for the ice getting nicked, its happened to me before (but the "estate kids" found out which crack head it was, beat the **** out of him and got my stuff back), was 3.5 k of ice not insured?

My take on this sort of thing is stay well away unless it directly involves you or a mate, i know people that have got involved in things that are nothing to do with them, and severely regretted it after!

Nowadays people are too scared to things to a person, it will be the house or car that gets the brunt of the anger, and if the pi55ed off person is anything like some of my mates they will make sure they are in a pub with cctv when the car in question is set on fire, so they cant get done for it (they will just pay some smack head 20 quid to do it!)

P.s after re reading your post, people have driven into my scoob twice while its been parked up, one not bad at all, one needing a new rear bumper and some paint, it happens, deal with it, dont go a personal vendetta against it!

LIfe is too short, enjoy it ffs!

I have been in the situation where I've fled from the cops in a quick car. When they found me they were not at all happy(Lol), so I do understand why you would be pissed off with the treatment you would have wrongfully recieved! Especially with a child in the car.

lol I have not even finished reading yet, but just had to say...

Daz , WELL DONE MATE!

WTF with all the cries of grass. Where I come from (I think thats the phrase im meant to use to sound serious) people stand by each other, dont like to see wrong doing and stand up and speak to the police.

Geeeez what a sad state of affairs when you are "marked" for daring to speak to the filth/pigs/5-0/po-po/babylon/ other (delete as appropriate)

If it happened to me, I would GRASS.
I have GRASSED to the police for many things in the past, from suspicious behaviour, to firearms offences, and would do it again and again and again......

By the sounds of it im quite blessed to have grown up where I have, and with the morals and beliefs that I was given. Would hate to be surrounded by a bunch of fools who turn the other cheek because of a "we handle our own" mentality.

I will now resume reading page 3 of the thread.
