There are two types of people.....

******* & Liars.

You choose !

dunx

P.S. I try hard to ignore "tw@s" in a built-up area, but do lose it once in a while out in the sticks....

lol - why the big rant by some about Impreza drivers?

I find most idiot driving done on the road tends to be by:
- BMW & Audi repmobiles / "Offroad" / People carrier drivers who think they don't need to signal and that they own the road. I guarantee that 99.9% of the time you're tailgated on a motorway it will be a repmobile doing it and NOT a Scooby. Oh and they'll probably be on the phone whilst reading a map at the same time....they can multi-task you know...
To me, 4x4 offroader means "I'm a bad driver and therefore I require a tank to protect me when I crash (and probably kill you)".

- Little kiddies in Corsas, Fiestas and Novas who think their car is faster than anything else on the road because they welded half a drain pipe to their centre section.

Both these types of people I normally pull over and let past on the motorway.
Sadly it's these exact same people who will never get out of my bloody way when they see you tanking it up a hill towards them - you give them loads of time to get out of the way but they're always convinced they can outrun you, and then if you flash them (without tailgating them) they go mental. Beggars belief.

I'm a fairly patient driver, but I swear there are far more idiots on the road nowadays then there used to be - the tests must be getting easier on the road as well as at school eh?

Me too mate. I live in town too and my mates have labelled my car "the chav-mobile". Even though it's just a weekend car, has no 'boy racer' mods and I don't drive like a tw@t !!! It's okay for them to drive their rep-mobiles like complete @rses but the minute I start the WRX I get grief about being a chav !! Cheeky b'stards !!! no anker scoob drivers in my area, just alot of judgmental ankers. they think they need to race at junctions, not let me in if the lanes are joining and all my friends etc call me a boy racer, but i drive normal i just love cars.
people stereo type because scoobies are different

although, a few weeks ago a red scoob did come racing up my **** nearly crashing into me, it has been the only one i've seen driving stupid, but i'd like to add if you know who you are (as in molesey, surrey) if you do crash into me, i will get out and batter you to death as i love my car!!

If you don't do him in, make sure you kick him in the ***** enough times to prevent any chance of breeding.

I'm not sure that any one car make has all the bell ends - massive egos and fast cars are a bad combination.

I just think as all car prices drop there will be kn0bs getting into fast cars of all makes and thinking they re the stig, only this morning i watched as a lexarse light equipped BMW went flying off up to a roundabout, i was pootling in my caddy, went round like he was Ken Block, just as i got to the roundabout he was having a 'moment' which left him facing oncoming traffic with a broken rad, two broken headlights and a shocked mate in the passenger seat. Which doesnt answer the op s question but i could nt let it go un noted

I personally think we are all *******. Some more than others granted but we all must be. We buy these cars that cost a fortune to fun, mod them so they cost more to insure and most of us never even take them on track and therefore never (and I mean never) see any more than 70 MPH !!

I still find it a pleasure every time i start up my car, and yes i'm as guilty as the rest as that smile comes to your face when you give it a little bit nown and again But thats what its about, not tear arsing past 4 cars on the inside lane who are minding their own business!!
The stereo type for subarus is horrific at times, i drive my wife and two kids around all the time and can make a perfectly safe overtake, and you still get the **** behind flash you as you pull back in. Believe it or not we don't all wanna drive at 35mph in 50 zone on a dry clear day!!!
To sum up your honour there's a time and a place and thats all you neeed to remember!!

Mine's back on track the day before TOTB (?) at Blyton.

Nothing better than a [relatively] safe blast round a rallycross circuit !

IMHO

Probably the 5% that gives the other 95% a bad reputation by all other road users.....

I did hear an elderly couple make a comment a while ago, loud enough for me to hear them say "That's one of them silly cars!"

In my own oppinion and this does not reflect anybody here that high performance cars should have an age restriction on them at 25 or have to take the driving plus test for those who treat these kind of cars as big toys or as an extention of their own ego.

I think the answer is what percentage of the population are w*nkers. They are every where, not just driving Scoobs, money does not = class.

Yeah I get the same mate - I got approached by a group of 4 lads late at night at a services on the M4 and was worried they were going to try and nick the car but all they'd come over for was to look at the scoob and compliment it

lmao - I saw something quite similar in Bracknell last year - this young lad hooning all over town in an old red 3 series, right on the limit, no margin for error. He must only have been 19 or 20 years old.
Anyway, he came flying across 3 lanes of traffic and cut me up, and then overtook me and went flying off down a dual carriageway towards a roundabout.
I saw him about 5 minutes later as we were coming back from a shop, and he came down the same bit of carriageway (doing laps of the town centre ringroad), braked far too late into the roundabout and span 360 twice across it.

Now most of us would drive off slowly and embarrassed but what does this guy do? Literally as soon as the car had come to a standstill he was off again, back wheels spinning. And I just thought - "what a tw*t."
It's people like him that are the menace on our roads - not Scooby drivers!

I agree and I understand what you're saying and I've seen pretty much the same myself. My initial point was that, as Subaru drivers, if we can't show a bit of respect to each other on the roads - what hope is there for us as a community of like minded souls, to change the image others have of us. The fact that we acknowledge (well, some of us do) each other on the roads puts us above other drivers anyway - when did you last see a Focus driver flash or wave at another Focus - 'nuff said. As an aside and not wishing to hi-jack my own thread do I also detect some sort of class (or should it be Classic!) war between the differing bodystyles. Now that I drive a Newage I just don't seem to get the same response from Classic drivers, anymore. Any thoughts anyone!!

I drive in and around Manchester a lot and on the whole I see other Scoobs driven very well, but what I woiuld say is when you see one being driven badly it sticks out like a sore thumb as they are quicker than a lot of cars on the road and with all these lovely exhaust mods usually louder than most cars on the road hence when someone drives one and acts like an idiot it is a lot more noticeable than a Fiesta, for instance, being driven as badly.

i must admit round my way there don't seem to be any ******* in scoobs but more chav boyracers in corsa's etc.
just the other day there was an mr2 doing 45 in a 60 so i over took and stuck at 60 stoped at the traffic lights and when he caught me up at the red light he decided to floor it in the 30 zone and i just set of steady pissing myself as the pedestrians looked at him in disgust lol.
i must admit though i can drive like a ****** sometimes but only on the twistys when its safe and noone is about.
when i was 21 i did a course as i crashed my car (ill hold my hand up on that one) and it was instaed of possible driving without due care and it made me the driver i am today as it opened my eyes to different hazards and situations that could occur (that i that the police for and you wont hear me thank them very often lol)

ps i do wave at every scoob driver i see due to the friendliness of others when ive been in petty stations etc.

Due to their low second-hand values, earlier Scoobys have just about reached the low point in general esteem that was occupied by Cosworth Escorts and Sierras a few years ago. Let the chavs have them, badly mod them and write them off and scrap them. In 10 years the vast majority will have gone and they will be seen again for what they really are - superbly reliable and practicle performance cars.

I realise a lot of people will assume I'm an old **** but I'm still under 40 and I certainly drive mine as it was designed to be driven, but only when I'm not risking other people.

The comparisons with cosworths are bang on...be patient people.

I wouldn't say there's a class war mate - I get waves from most classics in our area - the people that don't wave in general I think probably aren't "in the know" about the Scooby culture - and they probably think "why the hell are all these people waving at me, I don't know them"

Maybe some don't like the newage. I certainly think the hatchback is hideous, and I must admit I'm unlikely to bother waving to a hatch owner unless it's very nice looking - I don't drive the prettiest car in the world either, but to me it's 100 times better looking than a Rover 25 .

That said, it's unlikely you'll see a hatch being driven like a nutter because it's out of the chav price bracket at present!

TBH, I think most Imprezas are bought by people who are driving enthusiasts, and are probably safer and more considerate than most mums in 4x4's, myopic merc owners, reps in bottom of the range BM's and Audis etc... or 17 years olds 5 up in their mums Corsa.

I have seen a few really bad drivers in Subarus, normally booting it in 20 or 30 zones to try and impress people, but they are few and far between.
well said. It is the bad image some create which than causes nuisance for the normal drivers...

There are two types of impreza driver...

1. The normal person
2. The young chav

70% seem to be a young chav, who has just nicked the impreza from round the corner and taken it on a blish to see what they can race
