The selectors have basically handed the Urn over. Ian Bell is not upto it against the big side's Collingwood can only bat well when playing second fiddle to K.P
It's a lot to ask for Trott to come in and do the bussines in his first game in an Ashes decider !!

Ramprakash and Key should have both played and maybe even Trott for Collingwood.

It pisses me off the centally contracted " England " players thing i don't want to go back to the constant chopping and changing that we had in the 90's under Ray Illingworth's ragine but bloody hell !! If you're out of nick go back to county cricket and get some run's , likewise if you're smashing the county bowling to pieces and making big hundreds every week you should be selected to play for your country no matter your age.

It's going to **** down for the first day and half of the 2nd day isn't it ??

May as well call it a draw now, you can't afford for any delays at the Oval

Mind you the amount of times I've been there and the clouds have just opened up for the cricket and all around you you see grey/black clouds but above it sunshine, very surreal.

Draw

With Cook gone early (as always), I have been reading some of the BBC on-line e-mail banter about Bell. These two are good:

From James, Leamington, TMS inbox: "I think Ian Bell is still psychologically struggling from being run out when he was 15 in a youth cup final by my rather rotund mate. His confidence hasn't been the same since."

From Matthew Dale, TMS inbox: "For Giggsy in Leamington - Bell has not recovered from when I had him caught and bowled at a Coventry North Warwick II's v Leamington II's Sunday league match. He was only 12 at the time though!"

Reminds me of David Gower, he was a great one for wafting his bat around needlessly and edging one to slips/gulley. He still averaged 44 though in tests, but it should have been much more.

Disaster, literally!

Had a chance to test our firms disaster recovery plan today, major power cut in town, all computers down and my mobile down to 1 bar. Only just come back online and now I need to write a report.

1 down isn't so bad really, no rain and we might be in with a shout.

Here's another good one at lunch (England 108-1 after 26 overs):

"Jeremy, Bradford, via text on 81111: "I'll bet my (metaphorical) house that a wicket falls within two overs after lunch."

Pretty good call Jeremy: on 28.1 overs, Strauss goes and nicks one to Haddin.

Just remember, he'll never get past 99 and if he does it's a certainty he'll be out for a duck in the 2nd innings.

Not so sure, the game is still on. If we'd racked up 500+ and batted for two days, the Aussies would have shut up shop and a draw would have followed. We need a good bowling display now. If we bat on Saturday with a lead, we've got a chance.

Can't really complain because if you look back though the series the Aussie have had some pretty bad decisions given against them.

quick as a flash another one goes. 94-4 this could be the collapse we need.
