The Barryboys are taking the Piss out of Scooby drivers!

I did like the knowledgable one that suggested insuring an evo was cheap...
sticker look isn't to my taste, but i think the scoob image suffers more from the way people drive them, theres a lad around here thats recently got one which to most people looks the same as mine and he's driving like an absolute loon, hence me now getting the 'looks' from the usual suspects, it'll probably calm down once he has the inevitable accident.
As other people have said though, leave them to it, when the thread started people were pretty indifferent about the scoob other than its stickers, it was only when you poked them that they got stuck in. I'm sure there are some proper petrol heads on there but i read one thread on there where it turned out the main flamer of whoevers car had been posted up wasn't yet old enough to drive

Aaron, the site owner isn't at liberty to remove the pictures if he/she/it doesn't want to, even if the owner asks nicely. The intellectual & copyrights to the photo's belong to the person that took the photo's originally.
Barryboys does not condone its members into ripping the owners of posted cars unless they throw a wobbly. Donna, the owner of said Impreza got shirty when she found out about it being posted, if she had kept shtum then that thread would have died a death, cause & effect....

I'm the biggest culprit at work for taking the p**s and at the pub, i couldn't care less what you say about her car(or mine) and so seems neither could she. When said members realised this they personaly insulted her! simple as.
Oh and for the record the car in question is not to my taste either

Aaron> The site owner did remove some of the personal info from the photo's, but its not their policy to remove number plates. You wouldn't believe the number of legal threats Barryboys gets every year from irate owners regarding their registration plates being on display, all of them are utter legal boll*cks. However, if they post their car (plates on show) on an owner club site such as this, get some praise regarding their car, I'm sure they don't give a monkey's about the registration being visible.
I personally think it isn't that bad, not to my taste, but not as bad as a Corsa with a mahoosive bodykit, bling rimz & more tv screens than a branch of Currys.
Scoobyman1982> If you like your car, then good for you! Making statements like that certainly shows a level of maturity why not read a few threads from here & have a giggle.

I think you have to take it all with a pinch of salt.
Regardless of anyone elses opinions, the Impreza is still one of the top 1% of cars on the road in terms of speed, performance and handling ( dont imagine the 318i is though.... ), as is the EVO ( although we all know that the Impreza is the 'proper drivers' car as it doesnt rely on a dozen computers to do all the driving for you like the EVO )
And ask most people if they would do a straight swap - their car for an Impreza of the same year, and I bet 90% would say yes.

Many people have posted cars in the Members forum & then had it discussed on the main forum. The locking of Members cars threads is to keep the forum tidy. Feel free to join up & start some threads based on what you find in members car if you wish. If you start threads without reading the rules, they will get locked.

You cut me deep Pimmo
edit: Actually I didn't advise anyone not to go over there, I just advised people not to go over there, all guns blazing. But I realise that for some, that is like red rag to a bull.
I haven't defended Barryboys, I think I've remained pretty neutral, I use both websites, I can take a joke & am not afraid of a bit of p1ss taking. I was actually trying to offer a different point of view, other than "dat scoobi is da shiznit innit, dem barrybois is all wankas n dunt no nuffin oboot prefromance carz... lol... etc"

The issue i have with BarryBoys is that sometimes it is slagging for the sake of it. There is no discussion it is simply a place to abuse other cars. Yes some deserve it and when some chav comes on with the "i've had your mum" line it can be good but a lot of the insults and comments about the cars are the same time after time.
Some of the points on Subaru are true, for example my car appears to have been painted as the robot was rushing off for a tea break it is that thin. However it sounds like nothing else and bang per buck they are amazing value.
My dad had a go about 'chav car' when i got it. Wasn't as funny when his mondeo couldn't get out of the garage and my 4x4 chav motor just trundled off. Also, we've stuffed our wagon to the gunnells. Brilliant family motor.

I've been visting Barryboys for many years myself, this thread is a pure classic.
Barryboys.co.uk :: View topic - Ebay Focus - now SFS (and flyered)!
For those who can't be bothered to read all 15 pages here is the basics.
One of them posts someones (completely fcucked up) car up.
Owner (not the brightest button in the sewing box) comes on to defend his pride and joy, threatening to kill the poster, etc.
A 10 page slanging match ensues.
One of the mods spots the owner at a modified car show and tries to present him with his 'Shed of the month certificate'
Owner completely loses it and smacks the guy.
Back on the forum, they all start whinging why people can't have a debate without resorting to violence and then report the car owner to the Police.
Read it, best ever.

If you are getting a large number of complaints from car owners every year (not about being on barryboys which is just some fun, but because of the registrations) surely you could do them a favour and ask your contributors to remove registrations before posting pictures. After all some of the great barryboy cars you have on the forum could not be mistaken for anything else Truly a great site apart from the registration issue.
My car has been in magazines and is on websites, all with the reg removed. I, and obviously a lot of other people, do give a monkeys about our registrations being visible.
As for Subaru's being chav, barryboy or worse than an evo I don't really care, I'm far too busy having fun driving the wheels off mine to care what other people think...chav and proud, stick that in your pipe and smoke it you load of Rover owners LOL

Trouble is they get legal threats but don't win. Its the same as the Police on Road ars etc end up saying to chavs who complain about being filmed... they are in a public area so no complaint.
Same issue with the number plates, it is in public so it can be printed. However, i agree that if an owner politely asks for it to be removed then it should be.
