Which are late 70s? I thought most were early 80s (although I only checked a few).
I thought the 80s had some goos music - unfortunately the worst of it is played over and over again making it seem terrible. YMCA and Dexys Midnight Runners need killing...
My Dad's bands have a fair bit of stuff now on Youtube - most odd (he got quite well known in the very early 70s)...
Only ONE was officially from the 70s... See edited post...

YouTube - Metallica - For Whom the Bell Tolls (music video) 1985 and in my opinion the greatest track Metallica have ever produced
Milamber - it was a toss up between the two songs TBH!
I spent many of my early years in recording studios - I remember playing on a very large and very high spec drum kit when I was 4. I was told to stop after a couple of minutes...
My Dad's musical talent (he was quite a well know session bass player and also in a couple of bands that did well) bypassed me completely....!

I had this on promo about a year before it was finally released
Then you cannot, simply CANNOT have been between the ages of 14 and 30 in the 1980s, as nobody who was would agree with your statement.
One small dose. Two (or more) small doses. Just add an s.
Canny believe no Simple Minds yet

I still listen to Theme for Great Cities to this day, I even made sure it was on the ipod on my recent trip to New York as it made me think of the city. If you like great bass lines then I'd say it's as relevant now as it was back in 1981.
You could possibly link to seminal 80s songs all day Tel

Simple Minds were pretty good.
A couple that many might not like much but I like a lot:
YouTube - Level 42 - Running In The Family - 1987 - TOTP - amazing bass playing by Mark King
YouTube - BILLY IDOL - REBEL YELL (LIVE)
YouTube - Erasure - Blue Savannah
YouTube - Sam Brown - Stop
YouTube - Alison Moyet - Love Resurrection

Tel - all three good choices too. It's always tough when a band/artist does a number of good tracks.
Very nearly forgot a total classic:
YouTube - the cure - lullaby
