It does increase power even at standard boost as it will probably be holding more boost at peak power point as it tries to flatten the boost curve. So 13+ PSI @6000 RPM is rather beefier.

Greenlight are good like that Tescos wanted another 160 squid for a performance exhaust. Greenlight said they would put it on for nowt, he then asked if was ever gonna get a dawes dvice, i said possibly in the future. He said he would put that and an induction kit on for nowt while he was at it.
Also chared nothing for 17" prodrives.

Jamie, so the new Dawes is actually similar to the race version? That would be brilliant if it is.

Yup the only difference is it doesn't have polished walls, but we found that this made very little difference anyway. Overall it makes great sense to just offer the one version.

Anyway Katana, where have you been, I haven't heard from you for ages!?

I've had a busy summer thanks to some electronics resits. I've also sold my car last Thursday so I have to upgrade my soon to be new car.

Anyway, I (or any other people) would care much about poslished walls as its the performance that counts. The minute I get a car, I'll definately have one of you mate.

This thread doesn't help my problem can't find anything bout boost creep!

Jamie, still having trouble with my dawes, 0.90bar coming in @4,000rpm in 4th then @5,000rpm boost climbing with the revs, til it hits fuel cut, can't seem to stop this, spent all day yesterday messing bout.

James ( ps think eibach springs are too high )

Cheers guys, but I have bypassed original solenoid, and it is between turbo nipple and acuator with new tougher pipes.

I got a fuel raiser off you the other week Jamie but the problem is not that it hits fuel cut it's the point that I wanna run 1bar but can't it just creeps up once at 5,000rpm and with no fuel cut would just keep going! everyone else's levels off or tails off the nearer to the redline!

Right, just taken the dawes off, and linked a pipe straight from turbo nipple to actuator.

Took the car out and this is what happens;

4,000rpm in 4th getting 0.50bar on the boost gauge

Pretty steady holding til

5,000rpm and boost starts to climb with the revs, car starts to accelerate harder reaching 0.89bar before the redline.

Can't be an air leak now coz i've got one new bit of pipe to actuator, does this mean it's the wastegate sticking, don't see how because it does hold 0.5bar for a while before it climbs, but then I s'pose the more revs the more exhaust gas and making turbo spin up more?

If it is what can I do?

Cheers
James

Definately sticking mate. Try to either lossen it up or its a good time to buy a new one. WD40 comes to mind. I can't really explain how it works, but the way a wastegate works is that it opens up when a certain boost is reached. If there was a leak before it, it will only open up at a higher boost.

Anyway, yours is definately a sticky actuator.

Hi Mark,

I'm about to install a Dawes and I phoned up my insurance company and asked for a quote for a mod to the car - they asked what and I said a probable 10% power increase through a manual boost controller. They didn't ask anything else - just gave me a quote (extra £110) - I also asked how much extra on top of that for a down pipe and there was nothing on top, i.e. £110 for both mods.

Richard.
