I've just fitted a hybrid fmic to my hawkeye and there isn't any lag, drives the same as when I had the sti tmic. I don't know if being a 2.5 makes any difference.

It is more down to how efficient the core is (and the pipework) If it is an efficient core and there is lag, start looking elsewhere.

I have a hybrid from Harvey and very happy with it, but convinced there is something to be gained here, so its a post season thing.

What have people done re alternator belts and tensioner pulleys? Any tips appreciated

I did not have A/C, so I fabricated a new Alternator mount (using the old one, and some 25x4mm steel bar).
From 2 other pieces of 25x4mm bar, and a VW/Seat timing idler pulley I made the tensioner.
It mounts to the alternator mounting bolt (the long one), the other side mounts to the original tensioning slot on the stock PS pump.

Going to add a piece of bar metal and a long bolt, so I have a tensioner.
The way it is now is that I use a long screwdriver to tension, and then tighten the bolt.
If the bolt comes loose the tension will drop.

That looks very achievable as well as very neat! Presumably a longer alternator belt needed to reach as well?

Yes indeed.
I do not know the size off-hand, but will check later today.

Did you ever get a chance to check the length?

Im also trying to clarify if I will need to move my PAS if I reverse my manifold and IC?

Arch- had a look- nice thread! I have been hillclimbing for a couple of years, but only 2 seasons in this car, but thoroughly enjoying it.

I took, lost, then retook our local record, and more importantly have come down from 54s, to low 51s in the time of owning the car, so happy thats progress.

I am still unsure as to whether you needed to move your PAS? All else seems reasonably clear, but no doubt hidden problems!
